For the 1st photo, I am sorry but then I feel the subject of focus is not on the car but the plane itself..Originally posted by Vanquish:Did a Photoshoot for this Bentley Continental Flying Spur. A very comfortable car, no wonder the hefty price tag. The car itself is very big, therefore quite a difficult and stressful car to drive on the road. Let the pics do the talking, enjoy...
yes i have received a lot of comments regarding this as well. but then i still dun get the point, i dunno y but i juz cant lol... probably the way i see this picture is different from some of u guys. some of my other frens who seen it said it looks alright, and very nice esp with the plane above.Originally posted by M4verick:For the 1st photo, I am sorry but then I feel the subject of focus is not on the car but the plane itself..
quick fix: crop away the top half of the pictureOriginally posted by Vanquish:yes i have received a lot of comments regarding this as well. but then i still dun get the point, i dunno y but i juz cant lol... probably the way i see this picture is different from some of u guys. some of my other frens who seen it said it looks alright, and very nice esp with the plane above.confused*
no worries, diff pple diff tasteOriginally posted by Vanquish:yes i have received a lot of comments regarding this as well. but then i still dun get the point, i dunno y but i juz cant lol... probably the way i see this picture is different from some of u guys. some of my other frens who seen it said it looks alright, and very nice esp with the plane above.confused*
First, that photograph contains more of the sky and the ground.2/3 sky, 1/3 ground..Hence, it gives a feel that the airplane is the subject of focus.Originally posted by Vanquish:yes i have received a lot of comments regarding this as well. but then i still dun get the point, i dunno y but i juz cant lol... probably the way i see this picture is different from some of u guys. some of my other frens who seen it said it looks alright, and very nice esp with the plane above.confused*
thx bro. i appreciate u take yr time to tell me how u feel and how to improve it. will take up yr pointers and try it next time if i have the chance. i was using F5 for that picture andthe lowest i could go was 3.5. (using kit lens).Originally posted by M4verick:First, that photograph contains more of the sky and the ground.2/3 sky, 1/3 ground..Hence, it gives a feel that the airplane is the subject of focus.
Secondly, i would use a F1.8 or a F2.0 lens to create a small DOF, so that the car will be in focus and the plane to be blur.
Thirdly, if i were to take this shot, I would squat down and so that the car will take ur the bottom 2/3 of the photo and the sky + plane the remaining 1/3 at the top.
Generally, I feel most of the bentley photos are without a theme to it. They dont bring the best out of this luxurious machine. In some photos, your eyes will wonder just to find the subject of focus. IMO, they are just normal, plain yet sharp photos.
Just my 2 cents worth
if the plane would be further up in the air, it would seem as a compliment to the car, but when both plane and car are placed together, the more focused plane would get the lime lightOriginally posted by Vanquish:yes i have received a lot of comments regarding this as well. but then i still dun get the point, i dunno y but i juz cant lol... probably the way i see this picture is different from some of u guys. some of my other frens who seen it said it looks alright, and very nice esp with the plane above.confused*
And another reason is the plane is too near the car..it is already nearly right above the Bentley, hence they share equal limelight, or maybe the plane gets even more limelight..if the plane was further away and more out-of-focus, then it will complement the Bentley instead of stealing limelight from it..Originally posted by kenn3th:if the plane would be further up in the air, it would seem as a compliment to the car, but when both plane and car are placed together, the more focused plane would get the lime light

I think they have a theme though. They portray a regular Bentley owner's lifestyle: island getaways on jets.Originally posted by M4verick:First, that photograph contains more of the sky and the ground.2/3 sky, 1/3 ground..Hence, it gives a feel that the airplane is the subject of focus.

This pic is nice! Well done..Originally posted by alleggerita:And another reason is the plane is too near the car..it is already nearly right above the Bentley, hence they share equal limelight, or maybe the plane gets even more limelight..if the plane was further away and more out-of-focus, then it will complement the Bentley instead of stealing limelight from it..
I personally think with a little help from photoshop, the car can look more in focus and in the limelight..![]()
Thankew..Originally posted by HeXy:This pic is nice! Well done..
Yea now the car looks like it is the subject of interest..![]()
Can i ask where is this place ah??Look very romantic leh..If not good to disclose, can pm me the place..Originally posted by Vanquish:This location is not easy to find in Singapore. It has a very foreign ambience, like those bridges in the European countries.
i know wat ur meaning was. that can be done by changing the focusing point and aperture. i dun like to photoshop my pics tat much as it will look very unoriginal and loses the natural and fresh feel to it.Originally posted by alleggerita:And another reason is the plane is too near the car..it is already nearly right above the Bentley, hence they share equal limelight, or maybe the plane gets even more limelight..if the plane was further away and more out-of-focus, then it will complement the Bentley instead of stealing limelight from it..

Besides, Bentley does have some aviation heritage right?![]()
Yeah..can see that you are those kind who will leave the photos as original as possible except for the black frame and the word "vanqphotography"..Originally posted by Vanquish:i know wat ur meaning was. that can be done by changing the focusing point and aperture. i dun like to photoshop my pics tat much as it will look very unoriginal and loses the natural and fresh feel to it.
but nice effort though.![]()

i agree with maverick abt the rule of thirds. shld have given the car and its bg the bottom 2/3 and the plane/sky the top 1/3 onlyOriginally posted by Vanquish:thx bro. i appreciate u take yr time to tell me how u feel and how to improve it. will take up yr pointers and try it next time if i have the chance. i was using F5 for that picture andthe lowest i could go was 3.5. out of so many photoshoots i have done b4, this is one that i receive the most critics. stresswill try to improve and be back with more exciting photos.
cheers
it still doesn't cut it for me unfortunately. the majority of the shot is still the plane and the clouds dont help. the clouds draw a natural focus to the plane whereas there is nothing in the land background of the car to draw attention to the car.Originally posted by alleggerita:And another reason is the plane is too near the car..it is already nearly right above the Bentley, hence they share equal limelight, or maybe the plane gets even more limelight..if the plane was further away and more out-of-focus, then it will complement the Bentley instead of stealing limelight from it..
