I test drove the 2.0 version. Anyone else did yet? If so, any comments on the car?
Christopher Tan (Straits Times) wrote about it. Quite true but wonder if after run in the sound from gears is the same.

Underpowered for its bodyweight (only 155BHP). Go for Mitsubishi Colt Version Ralliart Turbo (154BHP).

but think the media has put too much hype abt it. what's there to shout abt when u only managed to squeeze out 155 ponies out of a 2L? the torque weren't impressive either, it could be another potential fuel guzzler too -

155bhp for a 2.0-litre is already quite powerful..the norm is about 140-145bhp..reason that it's slow is because, like you said, heavy..
And to compare the Colt Ralliart Turbo with the Lancer 2.0 EX is like comparing apple and orange..the Colt Turbo has the same bhp, but it has definitely more torque than the Lancer 2.0 EX..and plus the Colt Turbo is lighter, so OBVIOUSLY faster..
A proper comparison will be the Lancer 2.0 EX and the Civic 2.0 i-VTEC.. -

I can see it received mixed reactions from you guys. I think I am going to trade in my '04 Cefiro for the 2.0 GT this week not because it is better than my V6 Cefiro but it is time to change.
The new look is kind of cool too.

My main gripe with the Cefiro is the terribly loud road noise transmitted through the tyres... Spoils the whole driving experience. -

Perhaps u could consider Kia Cerato Variant R - 150BHP for 1.6 litre.
Locally tuned by Harmony Motors with LTA approved exhaust & muffler. -

off hand, i can think of 2 normally aspirated cars in 1.8 form, having a paper power of 140plus. a saloon and a 'sports' car -

Yes the Cefiro needs some sound proofing else it cannot stand up as a luxury (Japanese) car. When it rains you feel you are living in a zinc roofed hut in Tekong.
In fact , the first thing I did was change the tire when I bought it (courtesy of Automega).
I tried the 2.0GT and I agree with what Christopher Tan wrote in the Straits Times and that is the noise from the auto gear (CVT). Read in the US reviews that some people say that goes away after 2000 miles. However, if you are on manual then all is fine and the 0-100 kph is like 7.7 secs.
Going to do one last test drive this week and confirm. -
haha wat abt the golf FSI which has like 170+bhp with just a 1.4L engine
But it has like wat a turbo and a super charger under the hood :S -
CVT will always have a whining noise due to the belt/chain..i doubt it will go away..but i think the whining noise won't intrude too much until it's irritating..Originally posted by chech01:Hi

New Lancer is tons better than the previous one..I think getting it won't be a wrong choice..
