Auto -> Manual conversion

Hi Friends,
Anyone done that to your car before?
Does it make sense? Where to keep the auto gear after the change? Can sell? Trade in?
I not much knowledge with cars lah.

switching your car from auto to manual would be quite an undertaking....you need a manual transmission, a bell housing, clutch (including a clutch pedal), flywheel (an auto trans has a thin flex plate), pressure plate, manual shifter, etc....you need to cut a hole in the floor for the shifter to come through....you have nowhere to mount a clutch pedal and would need to do a lot of fabricating to mount one....personally, I think the time and money involved would be better spent elsewhere.

Quite a number of people do that. Auto transmissions can be hard to maintain.

if a clutch goes kaput, it's a few hundred dollars ......

I think it is not practical, converting doesnt come cheap..
Might as well use the money to buy a new manual car..
