My friend has an old mercedes benz e240, u know the one with the circular headlights? the first of the mercedes to have the indicator light on the wing mirrors? round headlamps and rectangular brake lamps? ya.. next to the gearshift, there's this button with a "w" and an "s", what is that for?
'Winter' and 'Sport' driving modes. They alter when the gearshifts take place.
ohh thanks! so whats the difference between the two modes?
'Winter' - Gearshifts take place very early to minimise wheelspin on slippery surfaces like ice and snow.
'Sport' - Gearshifts take place higher up the rev band so that you can take advantage of the mid-to-upper range power, for instance, to overtake. It's at the expense of fuel economy, of course.
