It's the same actually.. Taking the bike down from the roof rack will be a little difficult as it's quite high up. But it saves you the trouble from keepin it after you finished using it everytime. As for the rear rack. it's the opp. easier to dismount your bike but have to keep everytime. If not people will steal. And some driver may rearend you too..
