FC rating - is it measured with / without aircon ?

Hi,
As you know, having aircon or no aircon makes a difference.
many people conveniently say their car FC is 1x km / l .
But what does that mean in terms of the basis for this rating calculation?
1. with aircon on all the time? how much aircon?
2. what is the passenger weight? of course this makes a difference.
3. on highway 90% of the time or 100% not on highway?
i just like to have a better understanding of this term.
Or is it that people just give a rating using different assumptions or benchmark conditions? -
Wow, good question. But, I'm sorry to be of no help. I don't know the answer too. Anybody here kind enough to enlighten us on this seemingly unimportant question.

of course having yr air con on will contribute on higher FC.yr power is shared 50% with yr engine.driving on highway gives better FC as there is no stop start n mostly u dun regulate yr pedal as compared to city driving.weight is definately a factor so a lighter driver is perferred but then again its out of control.even driving at night or day,cool or hot also makes a diff.as air is denser on cool days providing better conbustion n lower FC as compared to hotter days.so there r many factors to consider.

what would be a perfect gauge under constant conditions?
say i'm comparing a VVTi altis and DOHC sunny (no need to guess who's the winner here, definitely, but just checking)... -
Actually if I am not wrong, the manufacturers quote the FC under quite perfect conditions, which means not much load, long distance driving, etc etc. That is why in reality, u seldom get the FC that the manual says u will get for your car.
As for the exact conditions, I am sorry, I don't know also..
But I guess you can compare between manufacturers, as they should have used roughly the same (near perfect) conditions.
But comparing between drivers is nearly impossible as like u mentioned, the distance, aircon, load etc all make a difference.
