I checked the number plate against the LTA web site. It is a real AMG ML63. The wheels are 18" i saw, but look smallish. The tyres are huge. It is registered in January 2008.
I dun think C&C will launch C63 officially like that... ppl whom wants to buy they just bring in for the customer i guess. Sure few takers, the road tax for these AMG 6209cc engine is $8712 a year.

Hello...
Can anyone give me their opinions on whether they think Maserati is considered an exotic car?

Maserati is indeed a company which produces exotic cars, look at the models they have and the price of their cars and some more they even affiliated with Ferrari

Yeah, I know C&C won't keep stock of the AMG models. It's all on an indent basis.

Judging by the price of Maserati's cars like the 4200GT, Quattroporte, GranTurismo etc, I would say Maserati is a producer of rather high-end automobiles. But not yet in the exotic spectrum yet. Maybe in the future. ![]()
GranTurismo is one of my favourites. Exotic means unusual or strange in effect or appearance but Maserati still not yet to define as exotic. I agree with alleggerita to define them as high-end automobiles.
Yes it is quattroporte.. I was just taking the pictures from someone else who posted them on the forum.
Thank you for the insights..
Though my own opinion is that, Maserati is sort of exotic. Anyhow.. I think its rarer than Ferrari, since seeing a Ferrari is so common, in Singapore.
Only recently, has Maserati upped the ante, in previous versions which I saw.. Their designs were horrible. I think that Fiat did a good job with Maserati.
I think its exotic because, it definitely can't be classified with BMW and Mercedez-Benz, it's in a class of its own. Even though it wouldn't be high up on the list of fast cars or whatnot. I believe its just a pretty fast car, which can pass off as a family one. Yes.. the great thing about the Maserati Quattroporte is that it is a full sized sedan.
That's just my opinion, but I sit in the QP quite frequently, so I'm not one to be unbiased. So thanks for the opinions.

Is it? That owner is a tall Indian guy. I saw his car twice at different locations. That time i fractured my leg then go the chinese doctor and happened to see him again in the same clinic.

You mean Pininfarina.
Today i saw a parked Maserati GT, SJD plate. Very nice. I peeped in. One seems to sit low inside. I am short & small size. I imagine i sit inside i sure cannot see the 'head' of the car. I walked a bit front to see, the head drup down at the end, then it's quite long at the front. Front overhang is quite long. If exit or go in a multi storey carpark that have awful curving sections, i sure in trouble... Like e.g, exit from the Shaw Tower Beach Rd multi storey car park.
The parked car is brown in colour... then the leather interior is like a burnt orange colour... very nice... The cup holder is so chrome & nice. The back can only sit 2 as it is separated by a central tunnel which i saw cup holders again, & infront of it, aircon vents. I dun like the cup holders to be at the back in the centre there... not nice i feel. The back passenger i think hard to get in & out of the seat. But overall interior is nice.

To me, I determine that they are not exoticar manufacturer by looking at their pricing strategy for their cars. I got to admit that they are rare, but not because they are expensive. It is because people still don't have enough trust in their products. Their cars used to be so crappy.
No doubt their brand carries potential, but if you compare the price of, let's say, a Quattroporte and a Merc S63 AMG, I would say their price tag are quite close. So I still stick with my own opinion that they are only manufacturers of high-end automobiles. Low volume don't make them exotic cars. Merc S63 AMG also not a lot on the roads, so is it an exotic car? To me, it's not.
whether maserati is consider exotic a not is depending on the individual. to summarise it, read below. taken from wikipedia:
"Maserati is an italian manufacturer of racing cars and sports cars, established on December 1, 1914 in Bologna. The company's headquarters are now in Modena, and its emblem is a trident. It is a LUXURY CAR manufacturer competing directly with Aston Martin and Jaguar, and sometimes with large German mass-producers, including Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Today, it is owned by the Italian car giant Fiat S.p.A. since 1993. Inside the Fiat Group, Maserati has been initially associated with Ferrari S.p.A., more recently it is part of the sports car Group with Alfa Romeo."
it is said that Maserati is a LUXURY CAR manufacturer. On a whole, it manufactures luxury cars, but every now and then exotic cars will be produced, for example, the new Maserati Gran Turismo, and MC12. Cars like the Quattroporte will belong to the luxury class.

Vehicle Model: Seville SLS

the quattroporte was meant to compete head on the the BMW E39 M5 in terms of performance only...
The Maserati Quattroporte is an elegant sport sedan with capable performance and exotic-car cachet. A lusty V8 engine delivers stirring acceleration with a standard DuoSelect sequential-shift transmission or optional six-speed automatic. The Quattroporte handles more like a sport coupe than a luxury sedan, although it provides a smoother ride than most vehicles bred for pure performance. Its interior is elegantly trimmed in leather and wood, with a long list of convenience features standard, even on the base model. The Sport GT and Sport GT S are the raciest versions, while the Executive GT is the most opulent.
Then i would conclude that Maserati is a producer of High-End Exotic Luxury automobile
Yep.. I agree..
