STOMPer Emily’s car was wheel-clamped at the Esplanade and the STOMPer claimed that she did not see any ‘No Parking’ signs in the vicinity.
In an MMS which the STOMPer sent to STOMP yesterday (Jan 15), 31-year-old marketing manger wrote:
“I am a first time offender and I didn’t see any ‘No Parking’ signs in the area.
She told STOMP that she went to watch Beauty World on Sunday (Jan 13) and it was her first time at the Esplanade.
“The show ended 10.45pm, when I returned to my car in the carpark, there were two security guards was waiting near my car.
“They demanded $100 from me for the fine and I had to walk over to the mall next door to withdraw it.
“I tried to explain to them that I was running late for the show and I couldn’t find a parking space, so I parked there.
“But they refused to listen to my explanations and they were very unfriendly and unpleasant to talk to."
The STOMPer said that the wheel clamps also scratched the rims of her car wheels
"When I asked them about it, they told me to write to the Esplanade management.
“I was quite upset as the rims cost $900 each and if I were a tourist, I am sure they would not have treated me in such a manner.”
