u're wrong....depends on what your ca's Min requirements are...if u pump 92 u'll make your engine suffer from detonation...cheap in short term...harmful in long term...as u will use the $$ from the savings to replace broken pistons...Originally posted by onlooker123:Don't. Just pump the cheapest grade you can find.

in US...cos the engines are tuned for that level of octane(i.e Lower compression/slightly retarded timing)..which is why the performance figures are slightly lower than other markets like japan....and of course thats another reason why american engine produce such a puny amt of BHP per literOriginally posted by onlooker123:What car you driving?
The vast majority of cars, the cheapest grade can liao.
In Singapore, they try to con you with higher grade fuel.
In the USA, even the V6 4L cars, cheapest grade is ok.
the R18A1 and the 1ZZ-FE are not american engines....Originally posted by onlooker123:The 1.8L Toyota Corolla in US market produces 126 horsepower.
The 1.8L Honda Civic in the US market produces 140 horsepower.
So you're saying the equivalent cars (ie same engine cc) in Singapore have more power?
frankly all ur analogies have nv hit the spot... its like 2km wide....Originally posted by caleb_chiang:and also the reason ppl chose to wear rolex than casio...![]()
Ok, as far as I'm aware, in the USA, for the Accord and Camry non-V6 cars, the lowest grade of fuel would do. That is equivalent to our 92 octane at the pump. (it's 87 in the USA)Originally posted by n0x:the R18A1 and the 1ZZ-FE are not american engines....
what tofu is referring to are those designed and built by engineers in america from GM, ford....
and doesnt necessarily mean that higher capacity will require higher octane number though is usually the case...
