Hi i jus passed my practical yday:) was driving my dad's Honda City, got some qns to ask:
1) Are there 2 types of VTEC? the 3 stage and 2 stage? i think the city one is 2 stage, which reduces usage of 16 valves to 12 during cruising. is this true?
2) whats the optimum rpm for the VTEC 'boost'? i think i felt it at 3000 when the car leapt forward a little.
3) How does VTEC increase horsepower??? its like the idsl has 88 but the VTEC has 110.
Thanks! am a noob here:)
why dont you research ? ![]()
actually i've read the wiki article before. but while explaining why VTEC gives better fuel efficiency, it doesnt quite explain WHY Vtec gives more power. is it because the lobes in the cylinder allow longer combustion time? what i know of turbo is that it compresses air to allow more combustion. so is that the difference btw VTEC and turbo?
