Read the article from Swiss adventurer arrives in Singapore in Solar Taxi, seems like solar powered car is a practical solution in Singapore especially with the rising fuel price. But wonder how much the car will cost if mass produced.
It's all about cost, look at CNG.

According to Louis Palmer (in this article http://www.nationalpost.com/life/driving/story.html?id=188145), the car use a solar panel to recharge it. So it is not recharging on the road (I think). Just make sure your car is fully charged before hitting the road.

I believe the cost to convert is cheaper since the gov don't need to built CNG filling station like for CNG car.
Maybe can just leave the solar panel at your parking lot to absorb the solar energy. And should be cheaper in the long run, if the initial cost is not extremely expensive...
And the gov can help to reduce cost by maybe lowering the tax for solar powered car (which unfortunately is not the way our gov is run).
The only major problem I can think of is this will mean no business for the petrol company. And this in turn mean less tax for the gov. So I don't think the gov will be actively supporting this type of car.
Fuel cell would be more popular coz unlike solar which needs well solar 24/7.....
It will be combine of both.
The cost to make the solar panel could be quite hefty, and not very feasible to drive during end of the year

Nope. Solar car can be runned on both fuel cell and solar power.
