nah alignment solves vehicle veering left or right or simply not going straight problems, not this.
It could be the rear suspension bushings. have them checked out.
Originally posted by Guy-next-door:i also have some issue. my civic, abt 7mths old, i notice a creaking sound, seems to be coming out from my back (suspension area) but this could only be heard (after i pull the handbrake) when i am in the car, outside the car..can’t be heard.
any idea ?
the handbrake may not be biting hard enough. try pulling up the handbrake higher
I also got same problem on my chrysler 300C. A metal creaking sound from the back sit, but the sound is there even when there are no passengers in the back sit.
it is normal for the sound..
i used to have the sound... so i consulted the toyota when i went for servicing..
its the handbrake that causes the sound..
i found a way to reduce or prevent it...
- when u shift to 'P'
- release your brakes, your vehicle will most likely move abit slightly..
- den after when it stop moving den u pull your handbrake..
and by doing so will prevent or minimize the sound coming from the handbrake..
My father's Picanto had this creaking sound too. Kia gave him a explanation which I think is reasonable and it isn't a cause for alarm.
When there is people sitting at the back of your car, the rear suspension is compressed and the rear ride height is slightly lower than usual.
Then when you pull the handbrake up and the rear passengers alight, the suspension will rebound back to its original height and at the same time the rear wheels will rotate A BIT. And this SLIGHT rotation work against the handbrake and cause this creaking noise. Kia assured us it is normal.
