i'm a canon user btw.
then wat are you waiting for! come join the Nikon Family

oh yeah, vanq, r those tuned gemballa very much faster than those not? i had no idea about this gemballa thing till u and autokultur talked about it here. btw, autokultur sounds familiar. is it a workshop? lol
once again, relax everybody!
yea very much faster. auto kultur is the dealer which brings in pagani zonda, mclaren etc. it can also be considered a workshop because many exotic cars are serviced and tuned there.
It was lying outside orchard meritus mandarin hotel. People passing by, not giving it a second look. And only looking at this guy who was taking pics of this car and wondering why is this guy taking pics of this car. Looks ordinary? think again...
It's the Mercedes Benz AM1000. 745 BHP and 1000 Nm of Torque, hence the name AM1000. Done up by Fab Design. Fitted with Gull Wing doors and 20" Fab Design Rims. Only 60 in the world. 0-100? 3.8secs. Heart is a V12 engine from SL600 and further tuned.

Wow great pics, is that the (TMJ) Tunku Mahkota Johor or (RMJ) Raja Muda Johor's car..?? Haven seen it face to face but i've seen it on this video here by Amran8888, a Malaysian exotic spotter : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlfM-vxhWV0

Seems like not only me have pointed out this fact.
So what are you doing to do? Attempt to make blunt attack to me? Or ask Mercedes-Benz to sue me for "defaming" their best rims?
What's the world coming to, that it's forbidden to make personal opinions?
Then perhaps you should direct some to muwrx since he's essentially in the same position as meDont worry if you think im trying to puncture your ego by attacking the Mercedes, im not and will never. But the same cannot be said for the rims, which even if you insist cost a bomb and all.
Point taken, but what's this gonna do other than letting me know anyway? Personal opinion's not changing with this fact .
why are the youngsters forever trying to push the blame to others? ask your daddy buy a S600 then, like how you asked him to spend 1k for your photography in buying the 30D, then change the rims. lol ![]()

hahahs. slowly man, i'm still waiting for what canon can come out with...
am thinking to take up another system, either a Sony because of the carl zeiss lens, or the leica, since it's a range finder..
which lens do you usually use for your car shot?
marvelous photos!

But seems like Canon's dSLRs in general control noise better? Maybe because Nikon still uses CCD sensor for some of its low-end models, while Canon moved on to CMOS sensor for all dSLR models they have? ![]()

This is a Mitsuoka (i dunno wat model izit) i spotted at Orchard Road.. Btw, that guy with that stripy shirt is definetly NOT his car lol..

i can't comment about sony because i haven't tried one yet. what attracts me to Nikon is the shutter sound. :)
i use 18-70mm. kit lens from D70s my previous cam. good lens, can't bear to part with it after serving me for 1 yr.

can't comment on this, because i don't study canon cameras. but what i can say it Nikon's D300, D700 and D3 has superb noise level control. Shot a few times at ISO 1600 with my D300 and the noise is hardly visible.

Im not pushing the blame to him - In the first place i'm not the only one who made the comment, yet you focused it squarely on me?
My purpose in the beginning was just a personal opinion, not flaming the whole Mercedes...and even if the 1k rims were stock's. So your attack on me regarding the stock options of the S600 was uncalled for. In the first place i was not and didnt care whether it was stock's or not, but just how it looked.. And then you dragged me in further into the war saying that it was stock..which was not my original intention.
Ok, i know it's not an AMG model..and you're saying it shouldnt even have any sport recognition because of the V12 engine lurking inside?

Ah..what i can say is...Canon L lens is pitting a good battle against the best of Nikon's Nikkor ![]()

That's because all the models you mentioned are the higher end models. All using CMOS sensor. ![]()
Mine is just a lowly D60 using a simple and old school 10.2MP CCD sensor. ![]()

Sorry, OT a bit more. If Nikon and Tamron both offering the same kind of lenses, let's say for example 17-35mm f/2.8, Nikkor or Tamron will be better? ![]()

Usually, except for exceptional cases it is the original SLR manufacturers themselve that offer the best lens, because they know their own cameras bodies and can design from that point onward. And it's the original brand lens that is offering the best quality(over price, of course) because they have their own proprietery technologies such as Canon's UltraSonic Motor.
The benifits of a 3rd party lens is the cheaper cost compred to the original's.Without the proprietary technologies of course, the bare specs is still cheaper anyway. For instance, a tamron 17-50mm F/2.8 cost only $500 compared to Canon's 17-55 2.8 which is more than twice that price.
That's about it. Just the bare specs and not picture quality.. Which is why it's pretty popular with beginners due to their low cost but not with professionals because of their lower quality compared to Canon and Nikon's best lens.
