30/10/08 09:24 Accident on AYE towards ECP after Clementi Rd Entrance.
Not the most fantastic way to start a day.
please always be courteous to other road users..
1) Switch on headlights in bad weather
2) Don't switch on hazard lights when you're driving in the pouring rain
3) Don't speed
4) Signal your intentions early
i think hazard lights are useful in the pouring rain... sometimes the brake lights cant be seen, the flashing ember lights are so much clearer to see..

Good advice from QX179R.
In extremely heavy rain with visibility less than half a metre from my windscreen, I'll switch on fog lights and high beam.
Switching on hazard lights only causes confusion. Only did it once when I was traveling with other vehicles and we were trying to locate each other in foggy conditions.
Avoid switching lanes unnecessarily.
The biggest nightmare in bad weather for me, is malfunction of wipers. That will be unimaginable.
in bad weather and even normal weather conditions, i do use the hazard lights.
only to warn people behind that, hey, i'm REALLY braking hard. ![]()
31/10/08 22:57 Accident on PIE towards Changi Airport near Eunos Flyover with congestion till Kallang Way Ind Est. Avoid lane 1.
i was in this jam! i was on bus 59 though. 7 or 8 car-pileup.

good advise but most peolple have a habit of turning on their hazard lights which adds to the confusion, leave them off unless yr vehicle breaks down else yr brake light or if your car is equip wif a brake fog light and fog lights use them <<<now would be a good time and not to turn them on when it's not raining or in the evenings.
signal, forget it, I think most drivers forget wat their indicators are for, how in the world is the driver of other vehicle know wat u r gonna do next as the indicators are the only way of communciation between other vehicles unless of course u wanna use sign language.
QX 179 >> 221 izzit ? had a close shave wif yr vehicle once...... drive safe, the injured's life depends on you getting to CGH safely....cheers.

yup, QX179R callsign is A221 & can you let me know more about your close encounter with me..![]()
I wonder people who tailgate in this weather-more braking distance needed, and whammo.
Same goes for speeders.
Weather is very unpredictable since the last few days Rain-stop-rain stop. And its not a normal deluge, its a real possum pounder.
Wonder if there are more accident soon
remember that the tyres are not really on the ground during wet weather & if I'm not wrong, the term for it is hydroplaning..
which means that u jam brake, wheels lock u still moving. Traction is lost easily.
Saw a RAV4 last month kena bash in by the tree on PIE(Changi) near bedok?. Front bashed in , cannot reconigise. railings uprooted.

EDIT: Ok both is fine

I do believe FOGlights (Halogen ones) are adequate enough even in heavy rain.High Beams may blind other users. In EU & US, high beams & Hazard lights are not allowed even in bad weather. as they can add on to the confusion n visibility issue.
drive safe

came from PIE > Simei Exit and was on the straights towards Simei when I noticed an Ambulance in my right side mirror next thing I knew, saw yr vehicle cut from the right lane straight into my path to turn left towards CGH..... had to brake hard to avoid kissing the side of your vehicle.....lol no harm done, no worries, juz drive safe though I know you've got a tight timing regime to fulfill.... cheers.
Heeee.... heee saw your vehicle again, think it was on Monday, I think you were attending to a call and was turning from Upper Changi Road > Changi Road North. Accident juz outside the petrol kiosk where there was a collision between a van, comfort taxi and a bike if I had not mistaken.
