its the brake pads are worn, thus exposing the screws that hold the brake caliper together. the screws scraping against the brake disc makes this sound.
unless u toking abt motorcycles..

Yea...problem could lie with the brake pads due to wear and tear....

it's braking, not breaking.
I must say that the pictures can be provocative, while bringing along a sense of humour.

I haven't see riverted brake pads in cars for long time except in trucks
most car brake pads using binder, bonding the the pad and the back plate
It could somtimes also due to insufficient brake fluids.
insufficient brake fluids will cause this sound - how is it so?
Insufficient brake fluids can will cause sound? Insufficient brake fluids will cause failure in braking, in which the only sound you hear are ppl screaming when you cant stop your car.......and a big crashing noise.

What do you mean by 'how is it so?'
Are you trying to ask if the sound can be caused by insufficient brake fluid, or are you trying to "test" us if we know why insufficient brake fluid can caused screeching sounds emitted by the brakes?
its braking my friend
OH BRAKING AH?
now then i know what he's been trying to say.... chey.
insufficient brake fluid wont cause screeching, but worn out brake pads will. how i know? cuz my brake pads were super duper worn out and prior to that, there was a lot of screeching sounds. and i always check my brake fluids and battery every 2 weeks.
but if anyone wanna dispute that, go ahead. seykai will probably say we are quoting from websites. if anyone still in doubt, look for karma88, he's our resident car expert.

Ah, worn out brake pads makes sense coz the brake lining is gone and is like metal grinding against metal when the pads are pressed onto the brake disc. Please correct me if im wrong though
.
I am asking how can insufficient brake fuild can cause the sound quoted by lianamaster
Originally posted by PassionInAG:Lol, sorry i spell it incorrectly. I don’t think its regards to the BRAKE, the sound of it is like playing a fire cracker or mini fireworks, from low pitch to high pitch to low pitch again.
Or maybe its my neighbours playing with the mini fireworks.
Ok.... most of the old lorries and buses have that very high pitch sound too...
