Dear Guys,
i really need help here, planning to get a car but i would like to know the necessary fees involve in getting a car as the price that we see on papers or road shows are not the amt eventually.
1) car's price
2) Isurance
3) Road Tax
4) what's OMV
5) COE
Planning to get Suzuki Cervo (660CC), my job pays $700 car allowance (which tempts me to get a car) and also pay fully for petrol. Am i able to pay a monthly instalment for (Car+insurance+COE)?
you should really head down to a dealer and ask. u will be able to get more accurate answers. as the cervo is a PI only vehicle, ask that everything be in black and white.
the car costs about 44k. how much you gonna downpay? how much loan? how long loan? fyi, 30k loan for 7 years, will have a monthly installment of approximately $450
insurance will depend on your profile. (age, driving experience, etc)
road tax is 326/yr for the cervo
Open Market Value. loose meaning is the cost of vehicle before all the taxes and mark ups.
COE is normally factored into the list price. ask to be sure. guaranteed or non guaranteed etc etc.

You might want to refer to some pointers on http://cars.sgforums.com/forums/2/topics/336575....
Suzuki Swift is also not bad too...From $45,500 for a 1.3L....
thanks alot guys! Especially the link that define all the necessary terms for buying a car. btw, 667CC's car means?
CC defines as speed/size/petrol consumption?
Engine capacity or Engine displacement.
In simple terms, more CC = more power.
Hmm... $44k for a 660cc car seems ex. should get a swift like wat lianamaster said. kelisa is 1000cc but $33k.
ya.. i tink its abit ex amongst the rest of the car. Hmm, I've decided on 2nd hand car already la.. don wanna get a car and in the end I got tied down by it.
Any recomendations for reliable 2nd hand car dealers? Btw, is it possible to break even for 2nd hand car huh? Normally for new cars, we need 5 yrs to break even right?
Sharon
possible to get good deals all around these days.. whether for new cars or 2nd hand cars.. U just need to know how to bargain and what to bargain for.
I went looking at small cars too.. 1.3 - 1.5l cars.. you'd be surprised that a recently launched small car has an OMV much higher than an 07 FD2, but costs 25k less...
U just need to shop around..
2nd hand cars, bank loans normally come with higher interest rates. 2 yr old car u take 5 yr loan.. drive 2 yrs+ i guess can break even le ba..
1st hand car.. if u downpay about 20% and take a 7 year loan.. 4+ years break even le..
dumb mouse... click once but registered twice..
..

To deduce when you will break eve, preferably take smaller loans for no more than 5 years. If you pay more upfront, you will settle for lesser debts and break even earlier. I think for small cars (CC less than 1.4L), it shouldn't pose much of a problem for you, I suppose.
