What happened to Lada in Singapore?

  i remember there were still ladas in singapore about 10 years back, all are SBQ to SBU plates in my memory. most are red samaras, most are red plates.

  so... all got scrapped when 10 years were up?

  As I checked wikipedia on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lada, it mentioned that Lada were impractical cars that need inspection every 3 years and coupled with the COE system, which meant that a certain sum needs to be paid after 10 years should car owners wish to continue driving their cars, Lada had virtually no market and pulled out quickly. There are few, if any Lada cars left, on Singapore roads.

  Honestly speaking I didn't know that brand existed....

  I used to ride in my aunt's beige Lada wagon (not sure of the model) when I was a kid... its an experience that I never forget...

  Performance: Adequate

  Acceleration: Decent

  Handling: Decent... lots of body roll

  Braking: Hahahah... my heart was in my mouth when my aunt suddenly 'jam-braked' the wagon to avoid bashing the car in front of us...

  My dad says it was one of the cheapest cars in SG back then, but quality sucked.

  The last time I saw one was on the AYE in 2004

  I nearly brought this lada samara in the early 90's.It has 2-door & 4-door version.That time bland new cost 33k.Another competitor is skoda rapid.It a 2-door coupe.The engine if i rem correctly is at the back of the car. Same like now,majority safe bet is jap car so end up still brought a jap car. My colleage brought lada during that time.
