hey guys, i know that there are a few threads on Hyundai Avante but I would like to gather some opinions;
today's Hyundai has an ad on ST indicating that Avante is going for $36,999 and i wonder if it's a good buy or should i wait a little longer?
In my opinion, when the Avante was launched, it was sold at around $68,000. Given the current price, I feel that now is certainly a good time to purchase cars as COE premium have fallen so steeply.
But do note that as car prices fall, market interest rates for loans have risen to around 3.18% as banks are tightening their loans requests. Also, although the car prices have fallen, monthly maintenance of car including the insurance, petrol, servicing, parking, road tax, ERP and other related charges remains more or less on the high side. You may only save on monthly instalments, if any.
At low COE prices, COE rebates will also be low if you wish to change to another car in a few years' time. Hence, if you buy a car now, it would be wise to drive for longer periods of time to keep the depreciation low and make your expenditure worthwhile.
Just my 2 cents' worth...

Chevrolet Aveo Hatch 1.4 at only $29,999, in today's (31/01/09) ST Classified.
Too good to be true.
my whole family is using avante.
1 thing i have to admit. the power/accelaration/speed is there. the body frame is heavy and good, yet im getting 10-11km/litre after run-in. we can take corners on the expressway (some examples are, stevens road/intergrated resorts before shears brdige) @ 100-110km/h very steadily.
you can go and ask for the trial run and test the car yourself.

I watched the commercial on TV and the interior can compete with other Japanese rivals.
so that cheap,
if your need a car, it may be a good buy...if you dun mind the korea brand.
buy any car now, expect to drive it for longer. lowish trade in values. comes with lowish buying price.
imho, if u r a first time car buyer see urself driving it for long, and ur rice bowl is quite solid, pls go ahead and buy a car. a hyundai avante is not a bad choice.
avante's nice!

jazz 1.5A S/R cost as much as legacy 2.0A…
mispricing somewhere…
Usually Honda cars are generally expensive.... The current Legacy is awaiting for its new model to arrive so that justifies the price drop for its current model. Same goes for the Lancer GLX which will be available until 2010 the latest.
u have to do a bit of calculation here...tho car prices down...interest rates r rising...depends on how much interest u r willing to pay by the number of yrs u wana pay ur loan...
some car prices comes with a catch...like paying by 7 or 10yr loan in order to enjoy the low prices...in cases like tis...if u do ur calculation properly, u ended up paying more...wats more...fuel prices may rise over the next few mths...
I am selling brand new Chevrolet Aveo Hatch 1.4 (just got it from luck draw) . If interested, please call 94366376 Mr Yuan or 97695980 Ms Bu.
I think Hyundai is feeling the pinch of its rival's success....
Saw the ad of the Avante back on our TV screens and the ST practically every week.... ![]()
somehow i still prefer the avante to cerato forte, in terms of their looks. but at such prices, both cars are a steal!
Yea.. I think both Avante and Forte are in for a price war.
In fact, sales for the Avante is strong enough to be the 3rd best selling model for the past 2 months.
Looks like this is a good year for KIA and Hyundai.
Look out for the new i20, which is the replacement for the ageing Getz.
