High-pressured cannister can explode under intense heat
On a very hot day, that high-pressured dust-removing device that sits
on the dashboard of your vehicle could be a source of danger.
One car rental company found this out after receiving a call from its hirer.
The Managing Director of Chan's Car Rental Mr Alvin Chang related the incident when he spoke to 938LIVE.
"The dust-removing pressurised cannister, on top of the dashboard
exploded. The force of explosion actually cracked the whole dashboard
and the windscreen got shattered. It's like a bomb in the car."
Mr Chang said the explosion happened Thursday afternoon around 2pm.
This is the first time his company encountered such an incident,
believed to be caused by the rising temperature within the vehicle.
And he wants to warn motorists against leaving pressurised spray cans under the sun.
"Be it hairspray, perfume, dust-buster, aerosol cans, spray paint cans,
do not leave it exposed under the sun in the vehicle. If you parked the
car under sun, inside the vehicle temperature can rise up to 60, 70
degree celsius which is clearly stated on the cannister that it will
explode."
