Imagine a car that changes colour based on weather conditions?
Come June, BMW Mini's first colour-morphing car will make its Asian debut, here in Singapore.
Called the Mini Chameleon, the car's paint reacts to ambient temperatures and moisture and changes shades accordingly.
For instance, on a rainy day, the car's colour would brighten to improve visibility and enhance driver safety, while on a sunny day, it would lighten to reflect heat, thereby keeping drivers cool.
The colour changes, which take just seconds, could also warn of overheating engines.
The Mini Chameleon makes use of liquid crystal based temperature sensitive paint, developed by a Spanish-registered paint and additives company called Payola Forlids.
The Mini Chameleon will be in the showrooms in Singapore on June 30th.
Moving forward, the company hopes to apply the concepty to military camouflage vehicles.
