I will like to get some feedback/comment on the pratical usage of this few vehicles. Intending to get one for transport purpose.
Any drivers of this few vehicle can share the fc? comfort? pricing? and etc.
Really appreciate all ideas and respond from you guys.
Budget? For around the price of the new Mz3 2.0 hatchback you can get a VW Jetta liao.
The new Vios scores on comfort and fc but fails in their design... that's my take.
I didn't drive the rest so can't comment much.
budget will be around 60k. does vios really score more on fc? because i heard alot comment on vios is a gd fc car.
Toyota cars shouldn't go wrong... ![]()
Comfort? Try the Latio, Sedan or Sport. Price is around there. Bloody spacious and comfortable. FC I have heard of easy 13-15km/l stories. FC really depends on your travel profile (City/Highway ratio) and whether you have lead or helium attached to your foot. The Latio is made in sushiland too.
From your list tho, Mz3 if u absolutely must have the latest model, lancer if your into cheap and good. Vios and Altis would make decent if boring drives. Drove the previous gen Vios. Car always started, but door rubs b pillar = squeaks.
Nissan car suppose to be heavier right compared to other brand.. because i heard it provide gd crash protection with better platting. But in the other way it more bulky and thus the fc is moderate only?
Correct me if i am wrong.
Anyway is mazda 3 a decent buy? the pricing is pretty high compare to lance, altis, and etc.
U want better crash protection at your budget, go korean.
U want decent FC, stop looking at the Mz3. 9 drivers out of 10 get poor FC in that car.
Mazda 3 is really too expensive
I dun quite like the material used for the upholstery of the Latio and their design. FC is good and the numbers tell it all. Mazda has the design but the price and the spare parts are generally expensive. I do get sick of Toyota cars before but its proven record of reliability and my experience on the Vios recently explains why Toyota is a best-seller not in Singapore but in other countries as well. ![]()
if a latio and vios.. which is a better deal?
compared getting a first hand n a second hand.. which is a better buy? if i intend to use it for around 2-3 years only before upgrading to another.
Altis or Lancer not bad le.

I will go for first-hand Vios... 'cos the price for a new Vios is still affordable in the mid $50k range. But I will drive for around 5 years before changing, if necessary.
Second-hand cars will have to depend on how old the car is. Work out the depreciation to see if it's ok for you. U have to send the used car to STA for an inspection, notwithstanding the usual monthly expenses.
But why u intend to drive only 2 to 3 years ah?
intend to upgrade to a better car in a few years down the road.. that y maybe i am thinking of getting a second hand car at the moment.
The inspection by STA usually cost how much?? because if getting a second hand car, it necessary to check through b4 signing the deal.
u want spent 76k on a mazda 3? i rather u get the toyotacamry from PI with maybe top up of 2k.
2nd hand car? look at those really old benz. brand new COE for around 20k.

That I'm not too sure... can always call STA and ask. Second-hand cars, if younger than 3 years and possess agent warranty, shouldn't be much of a problem. I feel skeptical about cars that are too young as well, like 5 to 6 mths old... stg must be wrong with the car... lol...

I like to give my 2cents.
1. Fuel Consumption depends more on how you drive - eg. lead footedness.
any car can be low FC when you drive very slowly. eg. only drive up to 70kph. But most could not resist :) This means, even an european car can be low fc if driven very slowly. But when all things being equal, japanese cars like Toyota is low fc. This is widely acknowledged. I read Picanto is even more low fc than vios. This is an exception as it is a Korean car.
2. I see that your main concern is practicality. Japanese car is a safe bet. But the choice is yours.
If I were u, I would get a Forte. Case closed. But since you intend to change within 3 years, maybe a 2nd hand, <2yr old car would be what you are looking for.
Go test drive the cars before you decide anything further. Not all dealers allow folks to test the 2nd hand ones tho.
Japanese car is alright with me. Just feel like checking out guy ppl who own various difference car and compare the usability.
From all the info above... mazda 3 is not really feasible because of the pricing wise.
Just like to check, will a 2-3 year old car give serious problem? and roughly how much i be paying for road tax and insurance per year? [ for example i get a 1.5-1.6 litre car ]
why not get a ford everest or ford focus?

Mz3 does not fit your needs because of your budget as well as your requirement for relatively good FC.
1.6l car, u will pay around $750/yr for road tax.
And, buying a 2nd hand car is always a bit of a risk. You will never know how the previous owner treat the car. Bring a friend who is familiar with what you need to check. If he is a decent mechanic, even better.

Cars younger than 3 years old bought from authorised agent usually still have agent warranty if their mileage doesn't hit 100,000km. Depending on their mileage, the servicing cost vary. Road tax for a 1.5L is about $670 per year while for a 1.6L is about $745 per year.
what about insurance wise? yearly will be roughly abt? because i heard it depend on age for the varies amount u will be paying...
whether it is a new or 2nd hand car, the insurance can i choose from other external insurance agent? instead of getting from the dealer/car agent/distributer and etc.

I dun own a car so I am not very sure... lol... For cars like Vios/Lancer, I think it should be around $2000 depending on your age and driving experience...there are more experts around to solve this.... lol...
From what I know, for new car purchase, u need to commit 1 year to the appointed agent from the dealer, after which, u are free to make a switch. I am not sure for second-hand ones...but I reckon u can choose...
