Basically I am lucky to be alive now and to be posting this thread on this forum. I was in the midst of crossing the road over a pedestrain crossing just now in front of Shaw Towers Bugis area at 8.30pm this evening.
Yes, It is common nowadays for impatient car drivers to drive their cars over the pedestrain crossings, while there are still pedestrain passing and the pedestrain lights are still green. It is totally understandable the phase of life is fast and everyone is rushing for time. But this particular driver was pushing the limits.
There I was crossing the road and car with license plate SFZxxxx did a right turn into the lane I was on. Expecting him to give way to me since the pedestrain light was still green and I had the right of the way, I was in for a terrible surprise.
He instead of slowing down stepped down on the accelerator and increased the speed of the car. Thankfully I jumped out of his way in time. Otherwise, who knows I might have lost one of my limps due to someone else's impatience.
Roads in Singapore are turning out to be very frightening nowadays.
The person that is lucky is him now.I heard in china,if this kind of news get arond in the web.His precious car would be no more tmr.
That car driver better take good care of his car if he dun wan ppl to itchy scartchy his car... hehe

Bro, u r nt the only one, 3 friday nites ago, i was crossing the zebra crossing at Marine Parade Rd/Still Rd South Junction, i put up my left hand with my pram, my MRS was carrying my 17M old kid and this idiotic volkswagen Driver zoomed passed me, less than 2 metres away!
These ah beng drivers should just crash into a tree & burnt alive like what happen at loyang last night.

many a times, I get these close calls, even once, by my own friend who drives a taxi.

just look at the normal traffic light, when it turns green , CAR ZOOMS off n then hard brake at the next junction > makes no sense, kill the transmission n spoil the car only

wah i had a similar incident aso.. i was crossing it was green man, normal pace, not my own sweet time cos i know how it feels to be on the driver seat when pedestrian takes their own sweet time walking.. then this driver started to move so damn near me it was less than 1 m away from my feet he turned almost hit me.. i turned around and stared at him as he drove past he aso looked back den he turned away.. what is his problem seriously? act tuff ony.. nabei

its precisely these careless and reckless drivers that cause all the accidents on the road. IMHO, these drivers do not deserve sympathy.
when they take risk by speeding, not only are they at risk, every other safe driver is at risk too.
a car is a means of transport, not a speeding tool.
Reckless Drivers, causing disaster and danger to other road users and pedestrians alike!!

Most Sg driver are reckless and impatient.
Sg traffic law are too lenient on traffic related offence.
Some guilty driver bang and kill someone gets 5-10yrs ban only. IMHO, they shall be ban forever. I don't know why the judge still want this people to be back on wheels?
illegal parking is still common. They shall raise the fine to $500. See who still dare to anyhow park.

those illegally parked for a few hours one deserve it when they get it lah..
what i mean is those just park without causing obstructionl, to do a quick errand like dropping a letter into the post box or to pickup lunch or to throw rubbish into a bin.. these kinda few minutes job. All this also need to park and put coupon, the carparks will lagi jam and petrol will be used up more quickly sia...
but then ah, if u get fined one time, enough to kill u for the many many times u escape!!

that is bad... A few years ago something similiar incident happened to a mother and son couple crossing the road infront of my place. Only difference is they were not as lucky. The dad must have been left a very lonely man after that. Lost his newly set up family just like that.

I havent for many years, I left my drivers licenses at home in the cupboard to collect dust as soon as I got. Ironically I realised I hate driving during my driving lesson days.

Actually I think according to Singapore law drivers are not supposed to drive their car across the pedestrain path when the pedestrain lights are green especially there a still any pedestrains on the path. It is an offence in law actually. But it seems more and more of them are bending the law. Which is rather unfair as it is at the expense of pedestrains like us.

But on the safe side, I guess we just have to take precaution....
Like wait for the vehicle to slow down before crossing...
