Hi all,
I am looking to change my current ride to a Daihatsu Copen.. So i need some feedback on this car..
As I do not need a MPV for now (Many people treat me as driver) and i only need to fetch my girlfriend around..
^^

Nah.. I won't feel offended..
Many people commented that it's a lady car too.. But i like the small CC, and open top of the car..
at the same time, I can "refuse" to fetch extra passengers..
=D
even my lady fren commented it being a TOY car....
if u hate fetching ppl, just rejected them politely....
saying u are in a rush or something...
I believe that's the most affordable cabriolet you can find in the local markets...

Yes.. I agree..
It's a good car to own.. Considering the low road tax, low insurance and affordable price..and the ability to go top down..
=)
Looking at a 2nd hand one though.. at $48,888.. New one cost around $70,000 for a manual version.

Copen not slow.
If you do mod to 150 (which in reality is not that difficult), then your power to weight ratio will be 185.18bhp/tonne!
For comparison, a Civic Type R has a power to weight ratio of 192.91.!

My uncle has this as a weekend car. While his weekday car is the Merc C180K.
Luckily he stays in a condo, otherwise just the parking fees alone would be a killer. He says the Copen is to zip around Orchard on weekends, and the Merc to drive to work to command respect. IMO, he just wanna show off.

But given its small wheelarches, how wide can your tyres go? It might have a problem putting the power down.

Yeah.. I know it's not slow..
But the cute size makes it look like a toy car..
I quite made up my mind to get the copen.. and mod it up to 150 hp..
But need to upgrade the rims.. for stability?
And a wider tyre profile?

Hmm... the car looks nice and is waiting for you to buy and mod it...

Err...
I am also not sure of what tyre profile is used on the Copen..
But the used one i saw seems good already.

In my opinion, perfectly yes....show off.

I heard from a certain bean curd delivery guy that fast + light cars are particularly effective on winding downhill roads.
But yep, I guess a handling modification would be the rims + low profile UHP tyres. Additionally, coilovers?

But I was telling my uncle he's dumb. He could have combined the price of that two cars and went for a premium Coupe-Convertible. Like the BMW 3-series CC. And since his previous car is the Volvo S40, he can even get the C70 at a good price maybe.

But never drive downhill with the roof down, only with roof up. The scuttle shake might shatter your tofu, then you'll get scolded by daddy when you get home.

True, a 3-series CC / C70 would do just nice to command respect during office hours and command jealous stares on orchard during the weekends!
Yeah..
But maybe he like to have more than 1 car?
And don't want to spend so much on the 2nd car.. :D

Yeah...
I would take note of that..
I am going to try to bargain the price with the car dealer..
See if can get at 45k or not..
hahaa

Yeah, exactly. Then my uncle said: "Why didn't tell me earlier?"

Maybe 1 person own 2 cars feels more shiok?
At least you tell people, "I have 2 cars leh..."
