  Yes, you read it correctly. It is LP550-2

  Lamborghini is rumoured to be testing a Gallardo with two wheel drive. With the deletion of the front differential, it's rumoured to have slimmed down by 30kg. The 0-100kmh time now is 3.9 seconds. Top speed is yet unknown.

  Engine is retuned to cope with two wheel drive and, hence, lost 10 Italian horses. But you won't consider this a big loss if you consider the 30kg weight loss. Externally there's no difference as you can see from the leaked pictures. Only that added racing stripe down the center and maybe a few special colours for it.

  Added: And instead of marketing as a higher performance Gallardo selling at a higher price, it's actually going to be 10% cheaper than the LP560-4. That's gonna cost roughly S$800,000. Surprise surprise.

  Anyways, the full name of this model is Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni. A little history lesson here, Valentino Balboni is Lamborghini's veteran test driver who retired recently. He was employed directly by Ferrucio Lamborghini himself and has shaped the handling of Lamborghinis since then. Notable works include the Miuras and Gallardos. Hence this specal edition model is dedicated to him.

   higher omv.  car comes well spec.  first unit will be orange here.  list price is higher than 560.  not a mere move to 2 wheel drive.  big aero changes and uprated springs n electronics n other mechanical stuff.
