Very frequently I find the driver of the first car in the dedicated turning lane, is unaware that the green arrow has come on. He/she need a blast of the horn from behind to get a moving.
I think the LTA should include a beep together with the green arrow.
It will save the taxi driver from hitting the horn too often.
how loud should the beep be considering everyone's in their airconditioned, metal-protected, airbag-ready-to-be-deployed cars?
how will the pedestrians waiting at the junctions take it? ![]()
like that we also need a beep for the left turn on red near my house. just last week i horn this nyonya. 1st car on LTOR junction, she eating her dessert. pffbt.
What are you suppose to pay attention to at a traffic junction?
No prize for the correct answer.
Imagine how irritating that would sound at night.
do we need beeps for green lights too? ![]()

Chances are.... the driver is new on the road, sleeping or busy raping his passenger. These drivers ought to wake up.

There are pedestrian crossing that beeps for the blind. How do people living nearby take it?
the beeps at the pedestrain crossings are meant for the blind who are crossing the road. It is only loud enough for those near the traffic light pole to listen.
Blind people dont drive.
The beep in your case needs to be loud enough to compete with engines sounds and the thickness of your car body
impractical idea.
People are suppose to pay attention to the lights when they are at the junction. Just do what you are supposed to do and you wont have such problems.
The beeps will be damn irritating.

Erm... you sure that the driver can hear the beep in the car? You do not know that the sound will soften after hitting the closed windows of the vehicle? and that it would be muted by the music playing in the car? What year you live in??? You think that all vehicle like last time, no air con, no radio, no steros and people drive with their windows down? Even so, you think that they can hear the beep when the light is like across the junction?
I think deploying laser will be good.
When the traffic light "catch" you not paying attention, it will shine an intense striking beam at your face until you feel a burning sensation. LOL...
Drivers can hear the toot of a motorcycle or scooter although they are enclosed, so they are not completely sound proofed.
