Hi, first time in cars forum. Between the following continental sedans, which would be the most "worth it" or "best deal"?
Audi A4 1.8 Ambition: $149,900 160BHP 250Nm
BMW 3 Series Saloon 323i: $163,800 190BHP 230Nm
Mercedes C Class C200 Kompressor: $156,888 184BHP 250Nm
Alfa Romeo 159 2.2 Q2 Salespeed: $113,800 185BHP 230Nm
All are automatic transmisison. Which would you guys recommend? The alfa seems much cheaper though. Any reason why? Thx guys
mercedes all the way! i've had no problems whatsoever with my c230. build quality is superb(parts don't start to jiggle and vibrate when u move at high speed or bumpy surfaces) and merc's v6's on the c classes love to rev and the exhaust note is probably the best out of the 4 cars
the audi, if its not the quattro don't bother cause front wheel drive is rubbish and its a 4 cylinder engine so the exhaust note is rubbish as well (i quote Top Gear)
bmw brakes wear off pretty fast or so i heard (beemer owners any feedback?)
alfas are gorgeous but they're either gonna explode or break down and performance is..errmm.....could be better
Ahh...another top gear fan. True, power wise the merc has the best performance, but i'm not really the POWEEEEEERR hungry guy like Jeremy. The new Audi A4 looks very pretty imho.

Well, if you are going for looks, then won't the 159 be the best choice? At that prices, and with the Q2 system, you're going to get the best looks and respectable performance at the most reasonable pricing (as compared with the other 3.)
My eldest bro had been using the A4 for a year plus liao with periodic maintenace,Fitted with 17 BBS rims and 215/50 michelin tyres with Bosch filter. So far so good. The performance is on par with other N/A 2 litre sedan car although it is just 1.8 litre.

i suppose if u like a ''lighter'' feel then the a4 would be a good choice. it is a good car ive tried the 2.0 but somehow 4 cylinders just doesnt feel as muscle-y and confident as a proper v6. alfa would be great if passion and looks are your thing but performance wise forget it lol if it were my money i;d get the alfa but sadly they're not sold here in the US
in the words of the clarkson, bmw's are cock cars so dont ever buy one ![]()
I heard Beemers aren't very reliable and regular costly maintenance is required. Heard that it's manufactured in South Africa. True?
My vote is tied down to either C-Class or A4.... tough choice.

Yep, the south african story about BMW is true due to the U.S.-African Growth and Opportunity Act. Most beemer drives dun even noe where their cars are from, and cos there hasn't been any price increase for BMW, customer's arent complaining.
Still...$160k for a south african made car...not cheap!
Exactly. Not cheap at all. Same goes for the other 3 actually. ![]()

C200 or the AR159 for me. Audis are just overpriced in SG, and IMHO the real BMWs start at the 325.
AR159 is pure sex, C200 for easy driving.

And then James May said "the cocks have now gone on to buy the Audis." So you are not a cock if u get a BMW now.

maybe get a VW,
in the words of the clarkson: an alfa shows that u have exquisite taste. you can't be a true petrolhead unless you've owned an alfa ![]()
if you are looking for just raw specs and not really leg room for the people at the back seats, why not consider a s40 t5?
$153,000 230bhp 320Nm

any way just by the top 4, i would recomend an A4, it might be 35k more expensive than an alfa romeo, however if you factor in reliability, insurance, road tax and fuel efficiency it might narrow the gap by abit. to be honest for a 1.8l engine to produce 160 bhp without a turbo or super charger is quite impressive

its a small volvo, what kind of young man wants to drive a small volvo unless he's gay? ![]()
Don't like Volkwagens...Don't like Volvos too. Hahas. Thx for the suggestions though. Well, i'm just looking for a 4 door sedan that is continental. So far i favour the A4. I actually find the A4 prettier than the Alfa...esp the LED headlamps.
If i want more performance, there's the A4 3.2 FSI Quatrro. Would have the V6, the looks everything! But is at $188k =(
