hi everyone,
im working on a project but have some queries and may need u guys to help me out.
whats the main difference between, parallel imported, authorised agents, and self imported cars?
in terms of the cost, adv and disadv?
where is the right place in sg to find these car dealers(mazda preferred)?
i think anyone that could provide me with any answers( even a brief one) would be a greatly appreciated, u could also point me to a direction so that i could source my own answers. :)
thank you! owe u a beer!
From what i noe, Authorised dealers are official importers of cars in Singapore. Each AD usually import only 1 or 2 makes into Singapore. For Mazda, it is Mazda motors. They are located at 1 Kampong Ampat. Other examples are like Kah Motors importing Honda etc etc lo. www.sgcarmart.com is ur best fren when it comes to cars.
Parallel importers usually import cars that are not available in Singapore, such as the JDM Honda Civic, Nissan GTR (last time la), Toyota Caldina etc etc. They are dealers, but not authorised.
Self import is quite tricky. U have to pay around 220% import tax on the car i tink. The car u imported also must meet Singapore traffic regulations (e.g left hand drive cars are not allowed etc etc) and the car MUST BE less than 3 yrs old. So if u are thinking of importing classics cars, unless is totally new, if not yoy can forget it.
If you are just looking for a normal mazda, get it form AD. Is the safest. Warranty everything also have. Since, you won't get cheated or wat la. Is the same as buying a Vaio from sony style instead of harvey norman. Though AD is more expensive than PI usually.
If u want to buy your mazda from PI, you can. Just don't get cheated or wat la. Usually, you only go for PI if you are budget or looking for rare cars? Usually, PI is cheaper than AD, but the augmented product (e.g warranty, service etc etc) all lousier than AD. Unless u have a friend who is the boss of a PI, look for AD la.
Self import...i dun rly noe much. Your project states a mazda. Nobody self imports mazda la. Is just like flying to japan, bring back a laptop and you get loads of trouble (e.g tax, ur laptop OS is in japanese etc etc).
There is a PI called Automobil Manufactur (no spelling errors no worrie). http://www.automobilmanufactur.com.sg/ is the webpage. It specially imports VERY RARE CARS into Singapore upon customer request. Though i don't think is related to mazda lo. Imagine walking into Cortina and ask for a Casio.
If you want, you take MRT at green line. The stretch between Redhill and Queestown has loads of car showrooms.
That's all i can help. Other forumners can correct me if i'm wrong or feel free to add in more details too.
Cheers
P.S btw..wat project is tat wor? Just curious. Got cars and showrooms de project is like..cool
