Last night (24Oct09), around 20:40hr, I passed by an accident site at the junction of Tampies Ave 5 and Ave 1. This is a big traffic light junction and the victims laid motionless on the side of a MPV. Is this an accident prone junction? I notice this junction links PIE to Tampines and the street lighting seems inadequate for the area. I hope somthing can be done to alleviate the possibility of accidents which horribly claim the lifes of innocent pedestrians.
i have to say i pass by this junction everyday to get out of tampines, where i stay.
it is the most organised junction. everything's perfect. but human error still accounts for accidents.
drivers dont look out for pedestrians. (so when oncoming traffic is clear, they go)
pedestrians still walk when red man is on (or when they dont press the button, the green man doesnt come on)
i also almost hit an uncle there. because the uncle was crossing the road and me turning right, i didnt see him due to the B-pillar. lucky i had a friend on front passenger seat.

So what did you do?
Did you stop and help to nurse the victims?
I too pass that Safra junction quite often. I find that the lights favour traffic on Ave 5 than those on Ave 1. As almost everytime I approach that junction from Ave 1, the light will be red. Only on my lucky day, very rare, do I breeze through that junction on a green.
It is true that the junction is well regulated, with ample green arrow time, but if drivers want to beat the lignts or on coming vehicles then what more can be done. I think there are cameras there already.
accident again at tempines
-- that day saw accident there, few wks ago
I happened to pass by the area during my bus ride...I would like to help any injured person if I know how... else it could complicate matters. That night at that time, the incident could have just occurred around 20:42hrs. It really hurts me to see the poor girl (or child) lying motionlessly beside the car. I can only guess that help must be on the way. There were people from other cars who stopped to offer their help though.
The driver must be a fool @ wheel. Act like a racer, drive like an idiot!
Charge Him !!!
Its more likely a game of chance.
The driver going straight speed up on amber, thinking the turning driver won't move for another few seconds. Wrong, the turning driver seeing the light turn amber move off the instant it turn red against the straight going driver. And the two meet in the middle of the junction.
They cannot beat the law of physics, two matter cannot occupy the same space at the same time.
