read this month's torque... it hints that one or a few chinese brands may be pulling out of singapore's market. not surprising, since govt cut COE by 15.7% and car prices will increase. once they do, there's no more meaning than buying a made in china car.
at least there's something good coming out of it. we'll regain road safety!
China brands are catching up.
Give them another 10-20 years and they would be a major player in the global car industry.

Its not they are catching up.. Juz that the Chinese Companies are too RICH and started to acquire the Conti Cars.. They are at the same range as Protons i tink..
they subsidiaries will thrive... but not their own.
you see jaguar and land rover in singapore. but where got tata?
Our local drivers still do not have confidence in China made cars. It will be a better move for the China corporations to use their money to take over struggling car makers such as Saab, Opel & revive their market. Just like what Tata did to Jaguar. Jaguar has reclaimed their place in the market through the revival. The British are happy, the Indians are happy. It's a win win situation.
I doubt those China players will do well here.
With the COE quota reduction, it's going to be a tough year ahead for them.
Geely sold less than 20 units as of last month. Chery is around 50 only.
Chana, Zoyte, Dongfeng machiam MIA.

Surprisingly, I do have some PRC friends who have expressed that they'll never buy MIC cars. LOL!

ahh. this you're mistaken. PRCs in china actually want to distance themselves with china even more than singaporeans.
I feel it just lacks quality. If that aspect is improved, the situation might have a turnaround.
i just dont think china cars have the quality to impress me leh.
it's not one of the brands i fancy to own

True....
I am not biased against China makes, but the results they present to us shows that they are capable of achieving more.

hmm, well, i would admit that im bias against china made cars, design wise i think they've made alot of improvements in recent years, esp cherry qq cars, im quite impress with the improvements they made, but then again they need to do alot more to be even able to complete with brandings like honda, madza, nissan.
i think they should follow kia's example, i feel better if now i were to consider kia's cars to buy, last time i would normally just turn the idea off.

Ask those china carmakes to call an ang moh like what KIA did and u will be surprised.
Well, the Chery A1 does provide the closest European feel u can find on the mainland.

maybe cherry should do that luh, afterall singapore has a market more towards the western type. maybe get a group of ang mo to try and change the looks of the cars to suit the taste of singaporeans luh. but of course this should only be done if cherry intend to stay in this market for long.

Civic is good!
Even though Civics have become rather common, it's still a fantastic car to sit in and to drive.
