Hi I am considering whether it is worth the money to buy the 5th gen Honda Civic ESI as it is relatively cheap between $6K-$7K as stated on sgcarmart. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=67252&DL=1238. i have several qns regarding this partcular model
1. How is the fuel consumption of e Honda Civic ESI?
2.Does this particular model breaks down easily ?
3. How is the car's performance and is it a reliable car for short term use ( less than 2yrs since I will not be renewing COE)?
Futhermore , I would also like to ask whether this particular Mercedes Benz W124 is a better buy http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=60331&DL=1138 since it only a bit more expensive than e 92 honda civic and I heard that e W124 is a solid car which is over -engineered and can last for many years.
Cars that is so old prone to break down easily...
you may want to refer to these threads, previous discussion about the ESi. for a while i was thinking about them too!

and about the W124... looks like at this price range, our interests are similar.
bro,
why dont u go to honda club forum and ask more?
i drive a 96 honda civic ek4. it's 1595cc dohc car with 170++bhp.
esi, u need to replace quite abit of wear and tear parts, be prepared to spend $2k-$5k in total inclusive of a nice spray job.
fuel consumption is about 12km/l for an ESI. its a very nice car to drive because of it's light body. handling is also very sharp and precise.
and it's true, for that kind of price, most people rather buy a new car.
i chose to buy this 96 civic because its cheaper to maintain than other sports car.
I will get the Manual Transmission ESI. You will have to be mentally prepared for the defects due to the age of the car. The good news is there spare parts are readily available anytime.
