Which do you prefer? From point A to point B you can either cut through the 'small' route with a lot of traffic lights but it's short or you use the expressway to go one big round (around 10KM more) but with faster and consistent speed?

the around 10KM more already tells you the correct ans.
Cause from what I heard your car actually consumes more petrol when you keep stopping and moving off than when you're driving at a constant speed.
I will go the espressway route.
