Hi guys,
I'm involved in a red light accident.where it's me beating the red light.I'm feeling terrible for it already. The person who suffered the most wasn't me,but my parents and many others too.
What happened was this; I beat the red light due to looking at a wrong light but i tried to brake when i realised but could not brake in time, while another cab hit me on my left pretty badly.
In this case, was it solely my fault or did he have some fault too?
Why don't u just wait for the cops?
should be your fault. unless u have a strong reason to be looking at the wrong light,

U are the one who beat the red light and seems to want to pass the bucket to the cab driver...I am not a fan of the cab driving but its not his fault that U were in the middle of the junction isnt it?
just pay up and be glad that U didnt hit a pedestrian crossing the road.
not trying to pass the bucket to him.but more of like determining are we both at fault or what.Coz when he hit,the car was thrown like 20M away, which led me to think he was speeding actually.
hope you learnt a valuable lesson & don't beat the red light in future..
luckily no one was seriously injured in this RTA..
if you were looking at the wrong light (which i assume is green), the correct light would have been red for some time already...
the taxicab would probably be at cruising speed when approaching the intersection, and would have no need to slow down...
being hit at 50km/h would throw your car a hell of a lot more than just 20m... and be thankful that you're lucky you're not dead and no one else is dead
Yeah,I know.I'm thankful that no one is injured whatsoever.Really is a very important lesson to me.could have been alot worse than just that.
I can picture the accident, because my sis got into the same accident, misjudgement of the incoming traffic at the junction, made the turn, not in time, and incoming traffic whack the car head on. Thankfully no one was badly hurt. However 2 cars were totalled, and another 3 more had some damage.
It happened last year right after the CNY, I tell you insurance settled everything but the claims are still coming, the charges are ridiculous but at least the insurance firm is smart enough to ignore them.
The police will do all the necessary investigations, they will tell you this and that, its just protocol nothing to worry. They won't pinpoint one's blame or another. Just paperwork, and let the insurance settle it.
yeah, same here. Both cars got wrecked. My 6 airbags all out.the other driver's one nth.thats what my parents and elders told me too, like insurance will settle.we just pay the higher premium next time. But in this case, its our fault (your sister's fault) right? How would that affect the insurance?coz i don't really understand the insurance and workshop stuff.
the other vehicle was a cab ?
good luck to you .....
if you're found liable, there'll be loss of income claims and what not .....
I shudder to think what your higher premiums would be like ....
As far as i know, the higher premium is due to the cancellation of the NCD.As long as u claim it,doesn't matter if he claim the income loss thing not.huh the taxi company won't give him another car one meh?
the fine n minus points how?No police or cameras btw.

increase in premium is more than the NCD being 0%.
There will be premium loading because U are deemed to be more at risk compared to others who doesnt have a claim before.
And that is on top of the ever-increasing premiums charged for all motor insurance...

The car was my dad's but the insurance covered all drivers in our family including me. Yes, no more discounts on insurance is one thing. Including this incident, my dad chalked up another 2 more claims under the same insurance company, 1 of them not being his fault, cabbie driver whack his backside of his new car after the above one got written off.
His premium now machiam same as any young driver, coz the company not happy he claim 3 times in under 8 months. So his new car although COE record low, his insurance is record high.![]()
My sister probably fared worse, when that accident occured, she was still a probationary plate driver, left few months to go. Now she think twice about driving out late at night.
The premium reviewing will be further determined by the insurance coy? Thanks for answering me anyway.:)
Anyway for the claims, right now do I have to pay anything, like excess or anything?Think my insurance covers the claims fully and this is like the first claim for quite sometime
Whether or not you need to pay anything, the police need to finish up first for the insurance to carry on their work, then they will inform you. Its a lengthy process. But I could tell you when my dad's car got written off, the payment came within 3 weeks. Since the car was totaled, made more economic sense to trash it, so they just paid out the market value for that car at that time.
For my case, there was no police involved.I settled privately with the other party.then its up to the workshop to send the quotations to us and my insurer?
Wah privately. Did you both sign any undertaking right after the accident or not? Wait all sorts of funny funny claims come up. Even for my dad case, the other not so damaged cars are still pursuing ridiculous claims like health and such, which the insurance company has dismissed repeatedly. Some workshops spoil the market by telling the victims all sorts of stories, can claim this and that, because the workshop gets a share, including the lawyer and all that crap.
mmm,the other driver wasn't injured at all.I was slightly injured. Some cuts and abrasion and strains. But since it was my fault i cant claim against him right. There was no other drivers involved, just me and one other cabby. The workshop my car in right now is under a relative's one.so if the insurance company allows unauthorised workshop think we let him do or else we just switch accordingly.
well, we all learn. My friend beat a red light too....he was dreaming but luckily there was no other traffic. Be thankful ur still alive :) Others would have died.

yup,I really counted my blessings for this one.If the uncle went faster i think i might really have died.
this is really not the best and definitely not a cheap way to learn a lesson.
some drive on a normal day, and then poom! they get into an accident and worse, they lose their limbs. Some drive into the drain or hit the tree because they dozed off, having to scrap the entire car. Some drive till their cars turn turtle....so it's no big deal.
An accident that u have come out of alive simply means you have the chance to drive carefully in future.
my dad estimated the repairs to cost abt 20k.sian.regretting now.but its all too late.one of the "if i could just turn back time" moment now.I doubt i will drive in the near future.
