Pls help. my engine keep dying.

Please help me guys. I will be going to a mechanic soon but i hope the understand the problem more first before going.
I have a 20 year old manual car.
It starts in the morning rather fine. It is recently that after travelling for awhile, when i slow down at a red light or if im searching for parking lot in a carpark, my engine just dies suddenly.
Even when i restart the engine...it seems like it is strugling and if i dont rev my engine...it has a 50-50 chance of dying again.
Also..there is a meter in my car. It looks like a tap with a drop of water spilling.
the extreme left of the meter has a "C" and the extreme right has a "H". Normally its at C but when this problem occurs, the needle will go all the way to "H".
Please give me advice or ask me questions if you need more information. -

Might be either radiator fan or radiator is gone if the temp goes all the way to high. Regarding the stalling part, it might be your fuel filter, air fuel mixture, air filter, plugs or worst case, carburattor...
not sure how well is the car taken care of... Did you check your engine oil? -
It could be some wires leaking,or spark plug problem?
Radiator water got check? -
Last time when i tried to start my car.. but just make the eh eh eh eh sound.. and the engine doesn't start. Called AA and then realised that the battery water is just empty. Just replaced it and wah la~
So could that be the reason? -
u probably got some problem with your cooling system. The radiator could be empty, need toping up water. Also look out for leaks.

just a question, when did you last service your car?
i had the same problem with my previous 2nd hand lancer ...basically, either the battery water is running low or the radiator has not enough water, causing the engine to overheat.
replacing them is s hort term solution, as you still have not rectify the root of the problem..which is likely to be a radiator leak.
this is often due to a crash by the previous car owner.... -
dun worry lar...carb engines are good....and reliable too....Perfer than than EFI engines check your spark plugs and radiators...see if there are any leaks

Whats a carb car? Anyway...he ask me test test 2 more days then bring back. After he put the wire like everything ok liao. -
you mean he found the wire to the radiator fan not connected and you are driving for quite sometime in this manner ???
If this two days you encounter the same problem ... get him to check on the radiator ... cos IT'S LEAKING ... don't really know your problem but i do have an encounter like yours a year back ...
When my car go upslope or on straight , everything is fine ... but down slope , even a gentle one , will cause the temp to reach the red zone .
