Anyone can give a comment on this car?
Handling, fuel comsumption, after sale service? -
mine's a lancer 03 and auto.
cabin quite big and handling ok. fuel having 13-14km/liter.(don't know why getting better?) one time hit 15km/liter.
After sales service from salesman NG but the service center and call center good and a bit expensive.
Mit lancer as compared to other similar makes a bit more expensive....

I travel at 90-100 at expressway, 110-130 at NS highway. Normal rd at 80.
Sales Servise as go in and see car at BM is good. I must say much better that going to Toyota showroom!
I experience a bad encounter at Toyota showroom on my last visit which the sales personnel bo chap u at all! -
I agree that with Lancer947 that the Sales Engineers in BM bo chap but maybe it's due to so many customers and only certain number of Sales Engineers scheduled to be present. i find the fuel guzzling ability just normal. It really depends on how you drive it isn't it?
I mean.. do you drag gears? Do you slam on the accelerator like there is no tomorrow?
I think my 35litres of petrols gives about 400kms. -

I used to have the same lancer, I really loved the handling but the 1.5 litre engine is something to be improved, on a hot day the power literally drops. Luckily theres the 1.8 litre vers now

Yeah.. i'm a bit over it.
The handling is superb. I would spin around corners really quickly when i got angry or had an argument in the car (to scare my passenger). And it'll be perfect.
As a first car, the height was good! I was looking at a celica (the last of the pop up lights model) and it was the same price. To this day i want to kill myself for not getting it. Due to factors like, i don't have the visual that i need (ie.. can't see nothing, body is too short, legs too long). Can't find a position in that car that i felt comfortable in. Urgh... it was a sweet manual with THE WORKS. Oh well.
I've driven Holdens (Opels) and celicas. I find the lancer a really really good car. The right height (not too high, not too low) and the older models had a really nice butt. Unlike the new Corollas where you can see out the rear view mirror. However, i think the current model in singapore is gay as. YUCK.. looks terrible. Must be boring to drive.
I'm waiting till i turn 25 to get cheaper insurance. Then i'll get a 300zx or celica convertible. -

Yeah I love the gearbox, especially when it was new feeling the gears crunch into place not like the spriny feel of the Corolla. But I think I should have gotten a 180sx instead hehe. Still reckon the 00' design is the best maybe a MX model.
Hrmm, in rgds to the 300ZX I really dun recc it, the engine compartment is extremly compact, 1 slight hit and some parts usually get hammered. Also a problematic engine, maybe the celica would be a better choice. -
tripp.. i so agree with you. Should had gone nissan instead of lancer. But 180sx .. hmm... don't know about them. I think the 200sx that my friend bought is pretty sweet. i rather the 200sx than 180. The 300.. i don't know what my obsession is. I know they cost a lot to maintain.
I'd probably go with practical in the end. I'm just tired of forking out heaps for insurance. -
Heh for looks and performance definitely the 200sx, but at that time the 180sx and lancer price was pretty much on par. Anyway, if i had my name in the policy i'd be paying more anyway.
My boyfriend is paying $1000 for Rating 1, 25 years old for a 99 Lancer 1.5GLi run of the mill one too!!! Urghh.. i'm sick of it... Just cos we live near the city it's so high. Should probably move to like a dumpy family type suburb.
A 180 same price as my lancer? HAHha.. must have been an older model. People have told me that the clutch is really heavy on the 200.. must give that a test drive this year. -

Hrmm, I remeber the last time my fren insured the car under a relative and had him placed as a 2nd driver which didn't cost any extra. But I'm not sure if policies differ from company to company but it was RAC at the time.Originally posted by Lingos:Tripp 4..

Funny thing was when I called a few times to get a quote a different person would qoute me a different amount heh really strange so I made a few calls and picked the cheapest option
that too was RAC F.Y.I, I manage to get it insured for $1600 (1st yr) then 1400 or 1200 subsequently,
Hrmm, If your car is in a locked garage the insurance should give you a lower qoute by right, maybe you like to consider insuring under ur bf? but better off to get a qoute first and calculate the difference.
Ah yea that was a older model 180, but when compared against the lancer it flies , actually anything compared to a stock 1.5 flies hehe too bad I had to sell my lancer away, I really missed the handling on that car heh, hope the new caucasian chick will take good care of her for me -
Tripp.. I live in the city and don't have a lock up garage.
Also policies have changed... especially for a driver under the age of 25 the premium would increase with an extra driver. Insurance has gone mad since the fall of HIH a well. It suck.
