Hi, Pls assist me... I was at a car park yesterday night.. When I was able to retrieve my car, I saw a note stuck to the windscreen. It stated that a car (with the vehicle no.) knock on my front bumper, without any contact number. So I assume that it should be a hit-and-run and a witness wrote that note.
I went to the NPC and lodged a report. They also told me to liaise with my insurance company to claim on the third party. Can I do so? How to do so? Will it affect my No-Claim Bonus? Will my insurance company charge me any fees in claiming on the third party?
u need to lodge a report at IDAC first to ascertain the damages u need to claim (if u intend to do a claim).
depending on ur insurance company, most will allow you to proceed to repair ur damages once the initial survey reports are out nefore they proceed to claim against any 3rd party. this will take time and you do not need to pay any money to the insurance company (why the hell do u think we pay an arm and leg for insurance?). however, u will still need to pay the excess (depending on the named driver) on your insurance if your claim against the 3rd party was unsuccessful.
some companies will require you to claim your own insurance before they proceed to investigate the liability. in whichever case, if the claim against the 3rd party is successful, (if it is proven that you were not at fault) you will not lose your NCB.
