hmmmm....heaRD from ple and read from the papers that mitsubishi is not goin to produce anymore EVOs.....in future we have no more new EVO......is it true????EVO IS A BEATUY.....ALWAYS my DREAM CAR.....

Give it to the japs... they have come a long way since EVO. although I am not a Japanse car fan. I believe in Italian.
It all depends on commercial sense if you ask me.
1. Demand/Racing
2. Cost of new R&D - support there may just use the same design & modify it. Engine...technology wise...need another 10 year. -

Last year Mitsubishi intends to stop the Evo series, cuz The Lancer Evo platform is causing them alot of techincal problems and not winning them anything for some time.It is said they want to concentrate on the Colt as the new WRC car.
But i also read that the Evo is selling very well in the key US market, and as such they have decided to continue the Evo series.
Anywayz, rather than the Colt, the new WRC car is based on just the Lancer platform, and not the WRC Evolution Lancer series platform as in previous years. So we have seen a small, but maybe significant switch (to us car lovers at least) with the seperation of the Evo Series from the WRC cars. -
I may be wrong but I think Mitsubitshi is not in this year's WRC.
And peugeot has a new funky looking car to replace its 206 sucessor. -
It is taking party, after a break last year. It is just that they did quite badly at the Monte Carlo and Sweden, which is expected because of the usual problems with adjusting to a new car and the unexpected problems that comes with it.

hi ple....can u tell me wat is the meaning btw lance evolution platform and the evolution lancer platform....is lancer evolution refering to normal mitsubishi saloon car??? think evo 8 is using the evolution lancer platform which is like their WRC cars rite??

Just as the WRX Sti, WRX, and the TS under the 'Imperza' banner.
Mitsubishi used to based their WRC cars on the Evo series, which means that their WRC was identicial to the Evos on the road.The 2004 WRC car, however, is based on a totally new platform (or subgroup) under the 'Lancer' series, and not in the Evo subgroup, which is currently represented by the Evo8.
Thus the Mitsubishi WRC 2004, car, is simply named 'Mitsubishi Lancer WR04', and not the 'Mitsubishi Lance Evolution WC02' as the previous car, based on the Evo7.
I hope i am not confusing anyone here.

yeah, the folks in UK get away with tweaking the evo to 330 hps and selling it as a off the shelf production car. and all we get in sg is the evo8 MR.Originally posted by HENG@:no Shit!
but read somewhere (as usual, cannot remember where also) that mitsu is developing a new gen of "baby evo"s ala the CZ3. baby hatch pumps out a hearty 250 hps, runs on real time AWD and runs on a "paltry" 1.5 litres TCed engine similar to the 4G93. using the current colt platform, with aggressive styling and aerodynamic enhancements, this babe is poised to take over the hot hatch category as the new king of the hill. better still, the lil critter only weighs in at slightly over 1.1 tons. perhaps a sign of the shape of things to come?
