saw some of your posting abt car n m impressed by some of your suggestion
... so now decided 2 get some opinion from u guys...
i'm planning 2 get a car. but due 2 the long waiting time (abt 2-3months for a toyota vios), i hv 2 go 4 a 2nd hand car. initially, i was thinking that i can get a 1-year b4 scrap car so that i can get a new car once i scarp the 1-year car... but now after doing some search on classified, i hardly found any '95 car. except suzuki swift 1.0 with a price tag of 13.8K with 9.2K parf. is this kind of car worth buying?
my second option will b getting a COE car with monthly 500++. my worry is, will it b easy 2 sell off this kind of car after 1 year so that i can get my new car? I heard i will rugi a lot on that rite?
with my current budget ard 5k downpayment n 500++ installment, what kind of car can i get? I need a car quite urgently... hope 2 get one within this month.

Try renting long term. it will save you all the hassles of selling. Remember you have to pay for transfer fee etc,.

but i thot renting a car cost u at least $50/day? which work out 2 abt 2000/month plus petrol n parking... compare 2 abt 1000/month getting a car, more uu hua rite? comment?

tentatively i decided 2 get a suzuki swift 1.0 1-year b4 scarp. saw 1 on today straits times classified 4/95 car with parf $9000, selling at 12800. any comment abt this car? anythg 2 watch out for b4 buying? how 2 make sure the car is ok? i m very worry that got2 pay 4 many many times of maintenance... -
12800 with scrap of 9000? then in all u are actually spending only 300 on the car. but COE ends next year? then u r paying 1000+ per year? a bit not worth it. but if u really desperately need a car, then maybe worth a shot

but what i understand is, i'm paying 12800 4 this car and use it 4 1 year. at the end of the 1 year, i'll get back the parf which is 9000. so i'm paying 3800 to use this car for 1 year which is also the depreciation rite?
i was told that the 1.3-1.6 car normally depreciate ard 5500-6700 per year. so is the 3800 depreciation for 1.0cc worth buying? -

oh hey i've just spoken to a friend who used to sell used cars. according to him, it is not worth it. 9000 parf value is the scrap value. so... for a year usage of a 1l car, u will lose 3800. furthermore, there are many instances of jacking up prices.

anyone got comment on toyota corolla LiftBack (A) version? engine? petrol consumption? maintenance? -
yes..low instalment if you are looking for but pls think twice getting a coe car.. 1st) road tax increase by 10% every yr till max 150% 2nd) mainteance is damnhighso the amt u save in instalment actually goes to mainteance 3rd)at the end of 10 yrs for coe car. u get back $60 onli for scraping the metal.. think twice......

29K. ya calculated tax n insurance... find it still affordable compare 2 new car. drove 4 1 week liao. hopefully toyota maintenance not so bad.
