S15 looks way better than the 350Z...Originally posted by zeus83:can't get brand new GTRs. 4 to 5 yr old ones cost from 90-110k. depending on mods/mileage. Don't forget, to mod a skyline, you'd have to fork out another 20-50k easily. Simply not worth it.
I'd rather get a 350z and mod it. or s15 cos it's cheaper to mod than a skyline.
thats subjective, actually.Originally posted by HIRA:S15 looks way better than the 350Z...

if proton bought into 50% of ferrari shares today, ferrari would be malaysia owned. but then, think about it hard and long. WOULD the car REALLY be a malaysian car? (and would the price drop? it IS a ferrari badge afterall, just like it IS a Lotus badge)Originally posted by zeus83:heh, another comparison, 210k for a 1.8litre lotus elise. It's malaysia owned, why the heck can't they make it more affordable..
1st, i do understand the laws of economics, and what repercussions might arise from such a price alteration. so don't undermine me by saying "your little theory". i'm not ignorant, you adduced my assertion which was flawed.Originally posted by HENG@:if proton bought into 50% of ferrari shares today, ferrari would be malaysia owned. but then, think about it hard and long. Lotus cars, 1stly, has had a long illustrious history. 2ndly, their cars are still designed by Lotus designers, by the people who have been there, not by any malaysian proton designers. 3rdly, the car is fantastic to drive.
in other words, the only link malaysia has to the car is the cash injection into a cash strapped company, to rescue it. maybe they occasionally steal a bit of the lotus chassis magic for their cars, but by and large, lotus remains unmolested. so I wouldn't consider it a Malaysian car company. going by your little theory, nissan is french, and mazda is america. makes sense? no? well neither did what u said make any.
one more thing. the top motoring hacks of europe has never harped on Lotus being a malaysian owned company. i guess here, to us, we are sometimes shallow enough to judge a car not by the hardcore facts and merits of it, but by who owns it.

2nd, i did make a mistake in my post , after reading it for the second time, but like most of the time, you go on flaming forum members here before clarification.. judge yrself before you judge others.. cos everyone is flawed.
3rd, when bentley was acquired by bmw, and when the new mini was released under bmw, bmw stocks did go up. the price of the mini, like all new cars, was inflated. But over time, the price did fall.. so, my question, finally, is why the price of an elise did not dip when a new model is coming up this year. maybe cos of the lack of demand? exclusivity? lack of marketing in the peninsula, despite it's parent company's location.[/b]
