Subaru impreza vs toyota altis vs mazda 3

Hi,
just got to know about this forum, got a question i hope you guys can help me out with..
I'm a new car buyer, and am abit unsure as to which car to get. impreza, altis or mazda 3?
Any pros and cons of each? what do you guys think? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks! -

Hi,
Guess this 3 cars were compared to many times thus the response is a bit slow. If you are patient and backtrack a bit, guess you can find many links on these cars.
Btw, for me, I'll either go for the Mazda 3 (Hatchback Sports) or the Impreza (Pelaise class). -

Mazda3 for economy, abit sporty and good resale value.
Impreza for AWD, can be very sport if suspension lowered. Heavy depreciation! Expensive maintenance. Hooking up the engine just to change spark plug?

Anyway, I wanted the subaru because i can get it early. Mazda 3 must wait till september and toyota till June..
i understand good cars should wait, but is there really anything really bad about the subaru?? depreciation really that bad? -

most ppl skip buying a Subaru becoz of its high maintenance.
The AWD drivetrain need some expensive attention.
Engine also need to hang every now and than.
but this car is way underpowered.
imagine 98bhp plus AWD? -
agree... the mazda 3 albeit small and quite underpowered too, as compared with altis.. 1200+ kg & 105bhp vs 1100+kg & 110bhp

Dun consider Subaru Impreza... It has no resale value...

Dont sure about the price now but it was pricy when launch. Someone already explain the con of impreza. Altis is more worth it for normal use, FC should be gd too. But their saleman and service is on the down side.
But all boils down to what r expect from the car. See which 1 u like.

Ever consider Honda Civic? Quite a good car too. much better in design compared to Altis, much better engine than Mazda3.
IMO the older corolla is better. Mazda3 has good design & handling, but engine sucks. -

For info
Altis is thailand make so the expected quality have reduce. The quality i refer is engine mounting and structure construct ..etc which can be seem only prolong useage or when an accident occure (touch wood). Futhermore in Thailand, no one drive Altis only the cab driver. As for pick up i not sure cos i don't bother to test drive it.
As for Impreza, like wat goodeal say high maintenace cost. Correct me If i am wrong, impreza is four wheel drive. So the expect fuel comsumption expect to be higher. But have power.
As for mazda 3, make in jap. Good design (interior and exterior), good handling and a lot of feature build in. Combination of structure build ford focus and exterior mazda 6 design. In other country mazda 3 is a 2L car. So which mean the car pick up is slower a bit.
Actually seem you have choosen the impreza, i feel that it is also a pretty good choice. -

Only for taxi drivers... I think u should check out the feedback from other countries forumers before making this statement.....
Obviously u are bias against altis in the first place..... -
Should consider Civics.I would say its the top rated in its 1.6L class.
Very refined engine with Vtec.As for the subaru AWD,i tested once,it is really lacking in power,compared to the other car like civic,altis..even the city idsi pulling power is better than TS! however TS has very good handling..
Well its up to u to decide,we in the forum could only share with u our advices n experiences,end of the day u must be happy of wat u had chosen n not regret it.

Yes... Altis manufacture in many country..But for singapore they come from Thailand. If dont believe me you can check out at boerno motor. Due to high manufacture cost in japan, now toyota are slowly moving their main manufacture in to thailand. In fact Vios is also make in thailand coming up is Caremy. However their engine orginal from japan. As for taxi in thailand, that is wat i see because i just went to thailand three week ago. I dont really believe wat people say in forum but i believe wat i see personnally. I am concern with regard to "only for taxi....." which is not true..... Altis is made for passenger car market as well.....

you can see 50% of Altis on Taiwan's road in yellow color = Taxi.

my fren test drive the altis already and told me that the test car, when moving straight, the steering wheel was a little to the left... even if the engine is frm japan, it's meaningless if the drivetrain is configured in thailand... if u want quality, go for the all-japan impreza

see all the Toyota Corona taxi on the road..... and the Toyota Corona (few years back alreadi)...... they can carry the same brand, but they are different specs...... can you imagine running taxi with petrol engine..... $$$$$$$$ burn all your $$$$$ away......
For your information, M'Benz is used as taxi in many European countries..... have you seen that too.... hee hee hee and in Singapore too (though not many.....) again.... different specs mah....

thats why 626 taxis were taken off the road. -

But wat i believe is jap make car is still better than Thailand make. Thailand still have a long way to catch up jap std.
