can anyone explain the diff. gears in auto car?
wanna noe more abt it.
i drive manual de so not sure abt auto. -
auto cars, you just shift the gear to D and bring down the handbrake, then you just step down on da accelerator. thats how simple it is

Itzit ok if I din use the 2 and L for my auto gear car coz I always use DRIVE. Will the gear box spoil if I din use the 2 and L???

if you use 1, it'll be limited to 1. it's like D, but with a lesser number of gears -

there is more use for '2' and '1' in an auto car.....
in cases of inabilities of the brakes, u can use them....
they act like engine brakes.... example, if u are driving at 120, and u seriously need to slow down the speed, change to 2 and the speed will eventually drop to around 60-80.... then change to 1, to bring the speed even lower.....
note: will eat alot of petrol.... hahaha
i change to 2 sometimes when i am driving very fast, then need to turn, i will change to 2, while braking, then change back to D......
ps: i heard this will cause problems to the gearbox in time to come... hahaha
who say u can play with auto cars... hahaha -
if you dun care about hurting your auto gear box, which dun come cheap btw .......
put your gear into N, rev and then shift to D
then weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee .....................

If your Auto is equipped with overdrive facility "just a button press" it will provide the car with extra push for overtaking, but fuel consumption will be high. Basically this facility for normal auto cars limit the gear shift to the 3rd gear. Not too sure about those new auto with 6 or 5 speed change.

4 gear auto, OD = 4th gear
5 gear auto, OD = 5th gear
etc etc etc .... -
you guys are talking about OD. i was just wondering my dad's mazda, when you press the button on the gear, the light HOLD comes on not OD. do you all have any idea what the 'HOLD' means, whenever i come to a red light and need help of braking i will turn on the 'HOLD' it feels like engine brake though....i dont know if its the same as the 'OD' you guys are talking about

if OD is not on, when going up to higher speed, wun it consume more petrol?
i have been thinking abt this for quite sometime already... hahaha
usually, i will off OD until i reach the speed of 60-70 then i on OD. -
some cars are by default OD switched on. only when u press the button then the icon "OD OFF" lights up. haha abit misleading huh?
