let say is ard 280kms rite... if im not wrong,... sub 300... going at 100 ... will take ard 3hrs... then makan and rest breaks... hmmm ard 3.5hrs or max 4?? arga arga one

Might as well save the money for your trip, better rite? -

What I meant by driving car there is driving fren's car or rent a car.

hmmm 4.5 hrs...
think i either take a coach there.. or unless got car go together...
then i drv...
or else go wrong way.. no one to help... except a bolldy map... altot is NS highway... straight all the way.. -
drove there b4... fr here 2 kl no prob... but when in kl, always lost... end up din manage 2 go where i wanted 2 go
rather part the car in hotel then take MRT, since there is a mrt statn just outside the hotel
other things 2 take note : dont over heat yr van; lock yr door & get a fairly good map -

Like to share my experience here. Drove to KL before.It took about 4-5 hours to reach if we say that we drive at the average speed of 120km/h or 140...
It quite fun but with lots of difficulties as we could not read in Malay. Luckily we got a map with us and managed to travel to the places we intend to go. Especially the part on their expressway...once you missed a turn..that's it....you have to travel a long way before you can make a u-turn....
Got "fine" when we accidentally drove to a restricted area...no choice that we have to pay the police some $...
They did that to us because we are singaporeans...
As for the car/van you can register with LTA to apply for some special licence in order to drive to Malaysia...better dun "hiong" because you know that the Malaysian hate us and you might not be able to get help from there....
Overall,I suggest you take a coach there if you are not familiar there...it's quite dangerous if this is your first time...

no way. ull probably blow a gasket way b4 u hit pagoh.
like the others said. even if u go bout 120kmph, itll take u at least 4.5hrs. inclusive of the rest breaks.
n as they said dnt hiong cause u mite get in deep sh1t. -

Hi,
I didnt know that you can drive G plate vehicles into Malaysia. I wanted to drive my Opel van (similar to the belingo) into JB cos my car was being repainted there. So I called up our side of the cause way and they said no problem but need to check with the malaysian side. Called up JB and they said they do not permit singapore goods vehicle ie G plate cars into Malaysia blah blah blah... gave up.
So if you managed to find out how your friend did it or what permit etc to apply, will appreciate if you can post it here so more people can know.
As for time it takes, well its further than you think. Its at least 320/330 km away and that is from the road markers signages which I suspects does not include city driving ie from start of toll to end of toll. So the last time, I did about 110 took me over 4.5 hours plus breaks. Oh, driving in KL can be a night mare. even the locals sometimes gets lost and the traffic jams are bad! Problem is that there are alot of spaghetti flyovers with lots of entries, so if you exit one too early or too late... good luck! my friend's house was 10 mins from my hotel, took 1 turn too early ended up on the road to ipoh. lucky found a way to turn back and proceeded to view KL via the ring road, that is to say, circled the outer borders of KL. 10 mins drive ended up 1.5 hrs and that is on a sunday morning with absolutely no traffic. So go traffic jam... die die.
good luck and yes its quite fun but plan ahead and get a really really really really good map!

Agree to have a really really updated map...to imagine that I bought the map from Singapore and most of the roads cannot be found there...gosh..what a nightmore..
Like the other said tt it could be a 10 mins drive but end up 1.5 hours...got that experience too...
Can check from the LTA website...they are the ones who is issuing the license.... www.lta.gov.sg
Also, I would suggest that you rent a vehicle rather than driving a van there as the van might not be able to take the distance...It's about 300 over km from 2nd link...
It's cheaper to rent from JB if you really want....safer too as the other road user might thought that you are one of the Kahkis....

and for goodness sake, it ain't dangerous. though nothing like singapore, but a use of common sense will make sure you won't get in trouble. sigh ..... this is caused by all the negative newspaper reports -

If you got a fren there you could park at his place then take taxi, once in the city theres the monorail system which is pretty convienient.
Btw check out Times Square, it makes Takashimaya look like a neighbourhood shopping centre. -

Eventhough that happened some time ago, I still travel to Malaysia quite often as I have a relative there...
Just an extra word of cautions that we are highly "aim" over there.... especially driving around in a singapore registered car....
As for the speeding part, I feel that they are more agressive in terms of speed. No matter what, always follow the crowd..if the situation allows us to move faster then we go...
