2004 Honda City vTec Engine

i went to see honda city yesterday and i quite like the car mainly because of the vtec engine. but i have a concern whether is the fuel going to be like "drinking water" as compared to the 2003 honda city which comes with i-dsi engine instead.
i wld choose this over the Civic because mainly i use it for travelling only... maybe occasionally ram up the engine...
anyone can give some advice?

the difference between both u mention is the gearbox...
CVT is a slightly newier technology... is more fuel saver but compromise in the power. maybe becouse of the gear ratios if i'm not mistaken. correct me if i'm wrong....
but basically... i rather u go for the city den the lancer....city more fexible and has a huge boot space compared to the lancer.
the current lancer u see simply hasnt got any power at all comparing it with vechicles of the same class. i dunno y but i'm talking abt the car stock showroom test car. -

i think you're right!!! have tried CITY, VIOS and JAZZ today...really...comparing CITY and VIOS... CITY really got more power!!
now i really cant wait to get the CITY with vtec engine liaoz.... but now stuck with what colour to get.. one more thing.. this new city (2004) comes with four disc brake compare to the 2003 model... -

i am new here. Just about to get my first car and have thoughts of buying a honda. the city have caught my eyes so far. I have a few questions here and hope can get some advice here
1. WHat's the major difference between the 03' and 04 city? i mean i know one comes with the i-dsi and the other vtec, some say fuel efficiency, power,......
2. is the wait for the vtec worthwhile?
3. what should i take note of when buying the car? What accessories (if thrown in free by salesman) are normally included in the package?
4. recommendations on where and who to get a good deal?
5. VTEC here in Singapore?

disc brakes gives u better stopping power den drum brakes. but brake pads wears out faster den drum. also slightly harder to maintain. hafta skim the brake rotors and so on once in awhile.... BUT no worries since u are getting a new car... all this will only come 3 yrs later at a very low cost so dun worry abt brakes. -

i-dsi is a complete new technology frm honda. they have 2 spark plugs in every cylinder so total 8 plugs... these plugs gives better combustion with the fuel thus making the combustion cycle more complete and saving fuel.Originally posted by ray258:hi guys,

vtec is a more reknown technology by honda. but always remember with great power comes greater fuel comsumption. vtec by default kicks in at the 5k rpm range. thats when u heard a higher den usual pitch sound coming frm your engine bay. ur valves open and vroommm......... off u go.
i wont know where to get a good deal... try squeezing ur SE for more freebies. generally i think that dealers are more willing to neg to close the deal compared to kah motors.
vtec is good... opens when u really want e speed. BUT vtec on a city is a no need. i'm sure u gonna drive it for normal everyday use rite... not gonna mod it like those bengs do with their civics. so no point... take the i-dsi and save up the extra thats needed on petrol. btw honda jazz i-dsi ca fetch close to 18km/l -

the SE tell me dont take white anf black...very difficult to maintain... but to me the rest of the colour is not that nice... there is on colour called vivid blue.. but looks like Subaru wannnabe kind of colour..
4. i think anywhere you buy is the same lah... is the SE you have... have tried lengkee, one of the SE though handsome.. but not very experience at all..
have tried at UBI, one of the SE is very knowledgeable and sincere.. they really want to get the deal type of ppl... this one was recon by my friend... -
