can anyone share the views on when the vtec will starts activated while driving?? heard is ON when it hits 80km/h.
anyone to verify?? -
it comes on when it hits a certain RPM... u can tune it urself... stock comes at 5000 usually
VTEC RULES!!!! -
yupz....its usually about 5000rpm. when u heard a high pitch sound comming frm your engine bay.
but remember with power comes more fuel. so open ur vtec more often and u find urself visting the petrol station more often too.. -

so happy today.. just came back from honda. Earlier in the morning, i tested VIOS and find it not bad accept it's too crampy. Interms of pickup, still quite okie. BUT, after i test drive JAZZ and CITY. i find their engine really powerful. The honda SE told me, now what i have tried on CITY is only a i-dsi engine, vtec wld be even more powerful.
Now what troubles me wld be the colour to choose. Engine wise, most likely will be getting the one with vtec engine since it is only a few K diff... but it add alots of other goodies compared to 03 CITY. -

Does anyone knows what is the speed like when the RPM hits 5000rpm?? i want to imagine leh.... is it 120km/h and above??

hmmm ..... haven't you ever driven a car before? if you have ...... take a look at the rpm meter
it's very hard to give you a good gauge, cause it's different for every car, unless someone has exactly the same car you're asking about. it must be exactly the same car and model, plus no mods, cause the gear ratios can be tuned -

anyway, when u wan the vtec to come can be tuned, using alot of equiments eg motec or vafc, u wan 1500 vtec oso can, wahahaha, but tats for crazy pple... my vtec comes at 5800 & 2nd one comes at 7000... -
Jazz engine powerful meh? its only a 1.3l although on paper they write 1.4... My fren even got to lower his air con speed so as not to compromise the power of the engine... Go for Fit 1.5 vtec from PI if u want the Fit/Jazz + power... V-tec power lah, if u try SIR, open at 5k still ok, but at when open the 2nd time at the 7k there, te feel is gd lea...
my old prelude although not power at pick-up but when v-tec open, can easily hit 170+km/h... -
"Jazz", "City" and "powerful" in the same sentence. Hmmm ...
Driven the B16 series engine before? That, was powerful. That, was DOHC VTEC at its (former) fire-breathing 160 hp best.
Too bad they don't make these any more. Emissions and environmental friendliness, you see.
Today, you can get a K20A with 220 hp - Integra Type R is one of the uh, "platforms". We're seeing more of these on the roads. -

VTEC.... oo I juz opened my vtec past 5500rpm... spd was ard 150-160kmh.
can really hear the roar!! Nice sound!! But fuel oso drop like no ones biz.... Prev could get 340km on 1/2 tank... but now i tink onie ard 280km... "kui" vtec ard 3 times...
Haiz my adv dun anyhow open... these few days alot of TP duno why!! Wan to open go NS.... Open and clear your hearts out with carbon!.... Oooo and also road kill.. haiz many many dead bugs on the side and bumber of my car when i open. best spd is 80km/hr!!!

Dudes, I used to own a honda EG6(the 3dr type) and a VTI. The opening of the vtec can be tuned to 4000RPM or so..... damn powerful technology that honda owns.... one of the factor being the twin cam that honda used to have..... now mostly uses single if memery did not fails me...... great car overall, but very prone to traffic police checks.....

basically vtec would kick in at certain rpms, not at certain speeds
in short , if you rev the car hard (5000 and above) rpms, the vtec would kick in and you'll hear the engine scream
more economic models of hondas use Single overhead cams i tink and the better peformance models all use double overhead cams (twin cam)
