One word. The gills made the car look damn fierce.Originally posted by au_revoir:zhun bo.....

Of course you gotta look out for the M5 badge on the boot and along the rubber lining on the side.. BMW sports seats in the 2 front seats. So far I've only seen one around a private estate but somehow I wasn't fully convinced that it was an M5. I looked it over in detail but it just didn't seem like an M5 to me even though it had the 4 tailpipes. Would love a fully modded M5 to take on all the jap imports. sigh...if only.![]()

and for the person who said he saw a grill, the E39 M5 doesnt come with side grills, only the E46 M3, M roadster etc have a grill

Is it easy to replace the meters and the shifter logos?Originally posted by tailslide:a sure giveaway is the transmission. M5 is manual 6 speed and the shifter has the M5 logo on it dat is lited in red once the headlights are on. oh, and check out the dash meters. should have M signatories all over the meters.externally, the 2+2 config twin exhaust and the 19 inch sports rims all too easy to imitate for most 5 series drivers already.
replacing the meters is a simple matter on integrating the dashboard of an M5 to ur car.Originally posted by PeRsEuS:Is it easy to replace the meters and the shifter logos?
I just had this crazy idea but would checking the amount of the road tax disc paid be an accurate judge of whether it is an M5?

Wow okay...well if the M5 has 5 liters...based on the formula by LTA..Originally posted by tailslide:replacing the meters is a simple matter on integrating the dashboard of an M5 to ur car.
the shifter itself is not your average, run-of-the-mill shifter. its manual (ie, with a shifter boot) and not in the P-N-2-3-D-R kinda set up. replace that, and you probably have to spend enuff money to buy a small family sedan.
yeah, the road tax should be clear enuff. the largest displacement 5 series is the wat, 528? the M5 is a 5 litre car i recall. that should give it a road tax of around 5k for one year.![]()
a neighbour has a real M3. olive green, very nice. Have seen it accelerating hard from stop too. he saw me by the road while he stopped at a red, and i actually ripped my headphones off... so he knew what i wanted...Originally posted by dansplace:So far have seen 3 'M3s'. From the exterior, no way you can tell the difference, right to the bonnet bulge. but when you look in, I laughed and told the salesman "Nice 325 convertible". You should have seen his shocked face. Needles were not red...
