Need Help!!! Dilemma on buying a second hand car

My work requires me to travel places to places for servicing machine, hence i need to buy a second hand car to ease my transportation. I'm really new in term of buying car cos i just got my licence one month ago (apr 2004) My salary per month is 1.4k.
This is my situations:
1) I'm just started out working hence not much cash for downpayment (at most able to take out 2-3k for downpayment).
2) My company expected me to buy a car but is willing to pay for my transportation up to 1k per month (exclude petrol) .
3) I perferred a toyota or honda brands car which is about 5-10 years old.
Based on my situations above, am i able to afford a car? If yes, any recommendation?Thank ... -
got a toyota Corrolla 1.5L or 1.6L.... cost you around $700 per mth..... downpayment of $3000 should be around there.....

i hope that the monthly installment is around 400~500. One more thing, what is the diff by going through a dealer or a owner for purchasing of the car?

getting from a dealer means you can get the cars of your choice..... if you wait for a car owner to sell... chances of getting that car you like will be very low...... of cos from a car owner it will be cheaper.....Originally posted by ryann24:i hope that the monthly installment is around 400~500. if a 2nd hand car has 4 years left, can i still go for the 7 years loan? meaning i can offset the remaining amount with the scrap value of my car?
