Corolla suspension upgrade

Ok, hi everyone, I'm new...
My dad recently got interested in upgrading the suspension of his Corolla. (I forgot which year, but the lisence plate is SDA)
Got any recommendations? -

cos changing the whole suspension on a corolla is like wasting money...... it wll cost around $700-1200 -
He wants better cornering and harder springs.

actually, it is generally more advisable to get a set of springs that matches the damping rate of the shock absorbers to prolong the lifespan of the whole suspension setup. having lowering and harder springs may give you the initially feel of better cornering, but it shortens the lifespan of your shocks drastically.
imagine the stock shocks were meant for x mm of travel and you change to a springs which compresses the shocks to x - y mm. the additional stress will cause the shocks to fail/ leak prematurely and cause you even more money later on to replace it.
a new set of suspension is a long term investment. choose it wisely and dun compromise on it. -

dude, seriously I seldom have pple changin the suspension system for Corolla, cos they are perfectly suitable for road conditions in singapore..... Unless you are toking about driving in bumpy areas like construction sites, malaysia etc.... cornering wise 50-60 km/h the stock suspension is quite gd enuff.... is it that ur father is experiencing some problems with the suspension only recently.....
If yes, I think the suspensions down liao....
tailside dude, there are some gd springs that fit nice nice to the stock ones.....
so no need to worry....
Oh yes, changin the shock absorber will be great.... But choose wisely, spending $800 plus to make such an improvement is not really worth it on a corolla..... the suspension of the stock is gd enuff already.... Tat's my point of view -

how about ask him slow down for hump? easier to do n cheaper solution also.

Autobaun..... bukit batok..... but very expensive.....
there are a couple small suppliers at admiralty and a couple near stamford tyres..... do ur father know any trusted mechanics ard.... if yes, juz let the bugger do all the purchasing and installation..... -

wah lao, got car for wat? drive to ubi workshops lah! installations should take only 2 hrs for ur car. workshops in the west charge astronomical figures leh. especially autobacs. buy accesories still can, but change car parts.... cannot make it lah their prices.

bunny, if ur dad finds the "springs" soft, the prob may not lie in the springs. in any suspension setup, the shock absorbers should be the ones doing the primary job of damping. the springs are there to "cushion" the oscillations the shocks go through (if any). if the car is "bottoming out" too much, it could be the shocks are not stiff enough to stop the car from doing so.
changing to stiffer springs may alleviate this prob, but ultimately, u'll still want a stiffer pair of shocks to prevent the weight of the vehicle to rest entirely on your springs as this will cause your ride to become bumpy. remember, spring bounces, shocks do not.

Ur dad not changing so soon rite?? when u see tailside ask him to look at it first... maybe try going hump with full load.... as in 5 people inside the car.... if at slow speed can go over... then most likely no need to change.... dun waste money..... if kena then better change the shock absorber ..... My rational is to spend as little money upgrading the most important thing..... I may drop by at kallang macs if I finish wif my revision.....

Worst than wat I initially thought.... hahah for this changing spring will not help..... at first I thought he wanted to improve cornering only.... tat's why I suggested springs.... Only happen recently rite? u private message me ur dad's number and I go and look at ur car.... maybe sat or sun this week..... u staying at jurong area only rite? No worry no charge.... after that ur dad just have to tell ur mechanic the part to change can liao....
