Hey all car enthusiasts!
I juz want to ask a small qn bothering me. Why is it that those expensive sports cars in singapore like Lamborghini is so much more exp compared to that sold in other countries? Like the gallardo model is slightly less than a million in Singapore whereas in its native country Italy, it cost about $300,000?
Where does the bulk of cost go to in the Singapore model? Is it to the government or the lamborghini company selling the car?
I'm not good in such areas, so just wanna ask. Hope u all dun mind!

Plus COE $$$$$$$$$$$$
This is to control the vehicle in singapore.
If not now in singapore all the road will be in massive jam..

Add COE, road tax, insurance for a car like that. Damn expensive leh.

end of the day, the banks are smiling coz they got interest to earn, the government is grinning coz the banks pay them big money..... its all a scam to make money go round for everyone at the expense of the consumers (ie, suckers like me

Taxes loh. Otherwise, everyone in sg can afford a car and roads will congest. Not enough land to live on, too many golf courses, cant afford to build more roads. note that the expressways in other countries are wider and have more lanes than SG's. And of course, no one will support MRT, Comfort and SBS and let them gain profit.

it's the taxes, which is calculated based on percentage, that makes our cars so expensive
you can pretty much ignore the COE. why? put it this way, how much impact can $30,000 do to a car with a price tag of $1,000,000?
it's different when it comes to cars with price tags at the lower end, $30,000 of $80,000 is a big percentage -

COE is not the factor cause everyone pays the same amt of COE regardless if it's a cheap KIA or exp Lamborghini.
So it's simply car tax which the government swallows? Juz that the taxable amt increases with the original price of the car? Like a KIA is taxed only so little while a Lamborghini is taxed in the hundreds of Thousands?

a car to a singaporean is such a luxury good, whereas it's just a normal good outside... hence singaporean car enthusiasts are some of the most pitiful pple around...

ARF = Additional Registration Fee, was 130%. Now 110% of the car value.
Not to forget import tax plus importer profit.
You can do the maths yourself.
