Hi all,
Me and hubby thinking of getting a kia picanto. Well, sg is too small to get an expensive powerful car. Lots and lots of ppl giving very bad remarks about Kia as well. To clear our doubts, can I know is this car's fuel consumption very high, how about the maintanence fee? I know the road tax is quite low so that's not the problem, from this thread, some also saying that it shouldn't be a problem to drive to KL. I hope so too. We are thinking of driving it to work (2 of us spend more than $200 on public transport each month) Overhead that 100% loan for 10 years, monthly is about 200+, is that true? Is the interest rate for 10 years is 2.9%? Do you think it is worth the money to drive up to 7-9 years?

interest rate:
7yrs is 2.2%/year
10yrs is 2.45%/year
for example 50K loan,
7yr loan +interest: 50k + (7yr*2.2%*50k)= 50k + 7700= $57700
10yr loan + interest: 50k + (10yr*2.45%*50k)= 50k + 12250 = $62250
interest dif between10yrs & 7yrs= 62250-57700=$4550
7yrs monthly instalment= 57700/84mths=687
10yrs monthly instalment=62250/120mths=518 -

Very nice...thanks for sharing...we are thinking of throwing in $10k to get this car or toyota vios. Well, the diff is $10k. If loan for 7 years, interest rate is 2.2% then each month is like $550, road tax 6 months is $283($47 monthly), MSCP is $100 monthly, Fuel is about $200 monthly n insurance is 2000k($167 monthly).
so each month I have to put aside : $550+$47+$100+$200+$167 = $1067
How many of u(drive picanto) agree with my calculation?? I really have to give myself a clearer picture before commiting to have one.
Or this way
Toyota Vios ($62k) : $757.20(DP 10%) + $75(RTax) + $100(MSCP) + $150(Fuel) +$167(Ins) = $1249
which one more worthy? Heard that Vios less maintainance and less problem compare to Korean Car. If u were me, which one will u choose? -

Insurance depend on age, most ex is 3k. Mine insurance is 3k for 21 yrs old. My advice is loan 7 years, dont loan 10 yrs bcos the interest is too high and stretch for so long means that ur monthly instalment is low, so if you intend to sell abt 3 years later, you cannot sell bcos your outstanding loan is much higher than your car value. As a result, you may have to top up 5-10k to sell your car.
Even if you dont intend to sell so soon, are u sure that these car can last 10 years? Maybe at around 4-5 yrs if u unlucky it starts giving u lots of problem until u have to sell it bcos the repair cost is not worth.
I suggest u at least put 10-20k down payment, so that u can easily sell anytime without making much lost and putting more downpayment, u save on interest. This is a car with very good fuel consumtion, 15-18km/liter depending on driving style. So it a good choice. Dont rush into it. Plan ur financial properly b4 u commit.
Also u cannot calculate ur road tax, insurance into monthly commitment.
Say ur instalment is 550, carpark only 95, petrol 200, you need abt 900 per month. Plus car park parking, coupons, cash card for erp, you need abt 50 dollars.
So you must confidently have abt 1k per month. And end of year, you must be able to come up with 2k for your insurance and 500+ for road tax. Beside all this, its better you have abt 5k set aside for emergency repairs dur to accident and doing up your cars.
So all in all, at least 10k cash(down payment), 1k per month, 2.5k yearly and 5k aside for emergency. With this, you will be sure you wouldnt be worrying no money for instalment or pay for emergency repair if suay suay accident or need to sell cars abt 2-3 years later after u are sick of it. -

Wa...then good luck to those who ordered blue diamond colour, the cars kana molested like no business and must have lots of scratch on the door panel where the speakers are bcos I always kick that place accidentally when going in and out of picanto. But as a consolation, u got coloured side panels and mirror for the scratches...

That's already a history. Now NAZA Kia already have their show room car and they even got so many cars on d road liao. I'd went 2 JB 2 view their Picanto today. It's totally d same as d photos. Yet their door strip n handler, even side mirro is having d body colour. Theirs 1 even got air bag steering! Dun tell me C&C will take bk d car and dis-coloured those parts n take out d air bag steering + the sports rims. My friend @ Ipoh already got his orange Picanto. Now whole M'sia n S'pore is only waiting 4 d 2nd & 3rd shipment. I am still waiting for my sales rep. to call me; regarding registration plate and also collection date. Either today or tomorrow, since it's almost 10 days ago I paid up my downpayment, insurance and first installment.
It's anytime from now till Friday. Really want to get it before the weekend though.
