when is the best time to sell a car?

er, my mazda 323, 12/'02 car... 7years loan, so when is the best time to sell it? i know it's not time yet cos i'm still servicing the interest. so when? i've heard there's this "breakeven point" at the 3rd year, is that true?
i've also heard that if you're lucky, you can earn when you sell the car.
btw, is it better to sell the car through agent or do-it-yourself? is there a place where i can read up on this?
how to maintain your car so that it fetches the best possible price when u sell it? what do buyers look out for? is it just maintenance of interior and exterior? how abt experienced buyers?
how do i know how much i can see my car for? is there a place where i can read up on this too??
