Hey dude ... i think that if you are looking for a manual car and currently driving a civic ... my advise will be:Originally posted by OneDoubleManTayar:ola forum dudes...
presently me driving 93 civic esi 1.6 manual...am thinking of changing to a new car...also 1.6 and strictly manual...i h8 autos.
have narrowed down to 3 choices...
Hyundai Getz 1.6 manual 3 door...they say it goes from 0-100 in 16secs??? wtf!!
Nissan Sunny 1.6 manual...looks like an old mans's car, but i don't mind...
Subaru Impreza TS 1.6 manual...heard that this car is heavy and fuel consumptn in high...
also one more that i havent even checked out and might consider...
Honda Jazz/Fit 1.5 VTEC manual...i don't know how `manual' is the manual...if it's one of those tiptronic deals with the +/- things...then probably not.
any advice u guys can give my regarding my top 3 choices will be appreciated...the more technical the better....
adios...
Hey man glad that you reply ... but are you getting the first hand one or the second hand ones?Originally posted by OneDoubleManTayar:Thanks johncooper...appreciate ur 2 cents...
actually i'm already leaning towards the subaru...just waiting for someone to say something bad about the car.
i did consider mitsubishi but didn't quite like the look of the new lancer especially the logo at the front. looks like i could make it into a belt buckle or something...and also a friend of mine told me recently that some bigshot at mitsubishi mentioned that they had a lot of problems with their cars but continued to sell them and not do a recall...i think it's bad...anyways...thnks
Yupz the stats states that it has only 98 bhp... The Impreza is really underpowered, poor pick-up unless u floor the pedal, heavy FC, but the main plus point is that it handles realy wellOriginally posted by johncooper:I heard that the Subaru is under power but really have no review about that from any mag ... it is 98bhp only ... thats what i heard lah ....
Manual Mazda3 is not available in S'poreOriginally posted by rumie:how abt Mazda3? not bad also...

Well, if i am not wrong, the impreza is running on a boxer engine. thats why the FC is damn high, not too sure of the power though, looks ok to me, but for all boxer engines, it the same, a rich mans game, will be alright if nothing happens to the engine, but if there is a problem, then well, might be exhausting on your pocket, because it is very Xpensive to maintain it.Originally posted by OneDoubleManTayar:Thanks johncooper...appreciate ur 2 cents...

I think if you want the Subaru... don't get the TS since it's underpowered.... it might be better in the long run to get a WRX instead... don't need the STi... but a WRX might be just right...a WRX will be right in a lot of places except for my wallet...
If all these is true... Might as well get the Focus! Continental car, better bhp than TS, similar pricing, better handling, more safe, longer warranty!Originally posted by w2k_83:Yupz the stats states that it has only 98 bhp... well john u came through for me again...thanks manOriginally posted by johncooper:Hey dude ...scrap the idea of the 2 door car, you are going to expect your child to arrive soon rite?
there if you are going to have a baby then your wife got to 'climb' behind to get to the back sit and it is abit packed esp after shopping. Trust me you need the space and thats why i sold my CooperS mention on the earlier thread ...i would suggest a Corolla or a Sunny for a family man ... a decent Sedan. if you want to go for value then go for Kia rio or the pincato if not get a second hand car ...
When buying a car you have to think of how many people is going to sit and how much space you can spare for a pram some big bag with water pampers and milk ...
Just my 2 cents worth again![]()
Don't worry i'm pretty sure the 1.5 Vtec manual is available (saw in a newspaper ad) cos i was actually considering that when I was getting my car last year... Anyway juz a reminder that the Jazz 1.4 is more of a 1.3 than 1.4 cos its capacity is actually in the lower ends of 1300+ccOriginally posted by OneDoubleManTayar:i also may have been mistaken when i said there's a honda fit 1.5 vtec manual. i searched the net and can only find a honda fit 1.5 vtec 7-speed multi-matic crap. guessed i'm left wit the Jazz 1.4 5MT to check out...sigh![]()
Yes the Honda 1.5 Vtec is still available, cos i just got mine 1 week ago. Now they are still coming from Japan, but in time to come will be from Thailand make.Originally posted by w2k_83:Don't worry i'm pretty sure the 1.5 Vtec manual is available (saw in a newspaper ad) cos i was actually considering that when I was getting my car last year... wat do u mean `yet to really try the manual'?? `auto change gear if u over drag'??...i don't like the sound of this...u mean it's not the `clutch in...engage 1st gear...clutch out...biting point...give it some gas...move off...' type of manual??Originally posted by Patty:Yes the Honda 1.5 Vtec is still available, cos i just got mine 1 week ago. Car still running in, yet to really try the manual, but heard from my friend who is driving the same car, in the manual mode, it will auto change gear if you over drag.
Overall its still a good car.
